COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to introduce students to the essentials of nutrition, and the effects on health and wellness. The
emphasis is on understanding nutritional guidelines for health promotion and disease management. Please note that for
students not admitted into the nursing program, this course will count as an elective.

PRE-REQUISITES: : CHE 109

Questions for all exams/assessments will be taken from classroom lectures, discussions, labs, required readings, and
other approved resources (activities, case studies, videos, websites, etc.) provided by the nursing faculty, as listed in this
syllabus, and/or approved by the CNPH.

***There will be NO make-up exams except under special circumstances with appropriate documentation
Examination Requirements:
Online exams are timed and must be completed within that time limit.
Projects are due on the dates scheduled. It is your responsibility to notify your professor about missing a project
due date AND to provide documentation, such as a medical excuse (hospitalization) or a legal excuse
(incarceration). If there is no notification of missing a project due date AND no documentation, points will be
subtracted from the project grade. Students are encouraged to email with any questions or concerns.
Please note: No extra credit points/ projects are available for this course.

GRADING SCALE: Final grades will be calculated on a letter basis. Rounding of grades will occur only with the Final
Overall Course average. Following the rules of math, the overall course average will be rounded to the nearest whole
number and converted to the applicable letter grade

include notification of class cancellation, changes to the syllabus or other course-related matters. At a minimum, students

END OF TERM COURSE EVALUATIONS:


During the last two weeks of the class, you will receive notification, via email and e-Campus, that the course evaluation is
available for your input electronically. Availability will end at the start of the final examination period. Your feedback is
valuable and students are encouraged to respond. Please be assured that your responses are anonymous and the results
will not be available to the instructor until after the end of the semester and therefore after course grades have been
submitted.
