• 790-373 Lion Brand Homespun® Yarn: Black
1 Ball (D)
• 790-375 Lion Brand Homespun® Yarn: Candy Apple
1 Ball (E)
• Lion Brand Crochet Hook - Size J-10
• Large-Eyed Blunt Needles

GAUGE:

12 sts + 14 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in sc. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you
match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and
the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and
rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more
stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Popcorn: Work 3 sc in indicated st or sp, drop last loop from hook, insert hook in first sc of 3-
sc group, pick up dropped loop and draw through st on hook.

NOTES:

To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color
and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.
BLANKET

WIDE STRIPS (make 4)


With B, ch 28.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 27 sc.
Rows 2–10: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to A in last st of last row. Fasten off B.
Rows 11–40: With A, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to B in last st of last row. Fasten off A.
Rows 41–50: With B, ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across; change to A in last st of last row. Fasten off B.
Rows 51–210: Repeat Rows 11–50 four more times.
Fasten off.

NARROW STRIPS
Strip 1
With D, ch 10.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 9 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Rep Row 2 continuing in the following color sequence:
Work 10 rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10
rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C. Fasten off.
Strip 2
Work as for Strip 1 in the following color sequence (refer to Assembly Diagram):
Work 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10
rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E.
Strip 3
Work as for Strip 1 in the following color sequence (refer to Assembly Diagram):
Work 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10
rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D.
Strip 4
Work as for Strip 1 in the following color sequence (refer to Assembly Diagram):
Work 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10
rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E.
Strip 5
Work as for Strip 1 in the following color sequence (refer to Assembly Diagram):
Work 10 rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D, 30 rows with B, 10
rows with C, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with E, 30 rows with B, 10 rows with D.

FINISHING
Following Assembly Diagram, sew strips together alternating Narrow and Wide Strips, beginning and ending
with Narrow strips.

Border
From right side, join B with sl st in any corner.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 3 sc in same corner, work sc evenly spaced to next corner, *3 sc in corner, work sc evenly
spaced to next corner (ensure that you work an odd number of sts between corners); rep from * around; join
with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Continuing with B, sl st to center sc of corner 3-sc group, ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in same st (corner
made), ch 1, sk next st, (sc in next st, ch 1, sk next st) across to center st of next corner, *(sc, ch 1, sc) in
corner st (corner made), ch 1, sk next st, (sc in next st, ch 1, sk next st) across to center st of next corner;
rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 3: Sl st in corner ch-1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next st, (dc in next ch-1 sp, ch
