Narrative Assignment Sp23.docx
100 points
For this assignment, you will be tasked with writing a narrative. You have several
options for the topic. You are not limited to these parameters, this is bare minimum, but
you can still get an A successfully by following these guidelines. Remember that the
purpose of a narrative is to tell a story, so you must have a plot structure. Do not just
write a bunch of events and expect the story arch to be implied.
Option 1:
Write a fan-fiction piece about your favorite characters. Go online for inspiration (there
are about 4,000 websites so I won’t bother listing them). Think of a scenario in which
the characters would find themselves, but not necessarily what is considered “canon”.
Think outside the box.
Examples:
Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in love
What Happened after Mean Girls
What would happen if Gandalf fought Dumbledore?
What would happen if Jack Frost fell in love with Elsa?
Option 2:
Write a narrative that involves something that happened to you. You can write it from
anyone’s point of view, it doesn’t necessarily have to be from yours.
Examples:
A challenge you faced in a relationship
Your first childhood memory
A time when you experienced a significant loss
A time when you had to make a sacrifice
Your experience with mental health and how it has affected you
The role of education in your life
Your relationship with nature and the outdoors
A time when you had to make a tough decision for the greater good
A time when you had to overcome a stereotype or prejudice.
Option 3:
Rewrite a fairy tale. We have all seen Maleficent or at least Hoodwinked, so we know
that there are more than 1 side to any given story. Pick your favorite and go from there!
Your paper MUST:
Format:
Your paper should be typed. Times New Roman, 12pt font, double spaced,
1” margins. You should also have a name block at the top left hand side, and
page numbers with your last name in the right corner.
