The purpose of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is to foster

economic and cultural interchange among its member countries, safeguard Southeast

Asia's peace and stability, and create connections with foreign nations with similar goals.

Collaboration is key to the acceleration of development and exchanging ideas, which

promotes peace and trust between nations. The Philippines has been a member of the

South East Asian region for a long time, and as such, the Philippines assures to be a

consistent contributor to other South East Asian countries by leveraging its strengths to

achieve greater integration.

The Philippines is known for its agricultural wealth because it is a nation packed

with agricultural farmlands. Farmers and local fishermen struggle and produce life

throughout the Philippines which are an important component of Filipino culture. Although

industrialization is beneficial to the economy, the Filipino government and all Filipinos

should continue to prioritization of agriculture. Because, once again, agricultural products

are our primary, if not sole, source of nourishment. Filipinos are also skilled English

speakers with laboring abilities who can work in other countries. Overseas Filipino

workers (OFW) have increased in several Asian regions. The number of Overseas Filipino

Employees (OFWs) or Filipino workers who worked overseas from April to September

2020 was projected at 1.77 million by the Philippines Statistics Authority. Filipinos are

diligent individuals, and going abroad allows them to explore and learn new things in

different Asia regions providing numerous opportunities for a country's development.

The Philippines' capabilities have accelerated growth among other countries by

collaborating and providing mutual aid on topics of mutual concern. ASEAN advancement

is critical for Asian regions, as it establishes a support structure in which each country in
ASEAN contributes its unique capabilities, and development is distributed evenly. As time

passes, the Philippines will acquire more strength, not just to contribute to ASEAN's

growth, but also within the country.
