Digestion

1. Food enters the mouth - Ingestion


● Food is broken into small pieces by the teeth
● Food mixes with saliva.
● So carbohydrate digestion begins.

2. Food goes to the stomach through the gullet.


● Stomach churns the food.
● Protein digestion begins

3. Food enters the small intestine.


● Digestion completes
● Nutrients are absorbed into our blood.

4. Food enters the large intestine.


● Water is absorbed from the undigested food.
5. Faeces are stored in the rectum until its removed through the anus.

6. Removal of faeces - Egestion
