Biology - The Water Cycle Chelsea M

The water cycle is the continuous movement of water through four main stages: evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and surface runoff. Evaporation occurs when the sun heats water, turning it into vapor, which then condenses into clouds. Precipitation happens when clouds release water in forms like rain, while surface runoff occurs when excess rainfall saturates the soil and flows over the land.

The Water Cycle

The water cycle is the continuous movement of water from on

the land to the sky then all over again. The water cycle has four
main stages. These include:
1. Evaporation
2. Condensation
3. Precipitation
4. Surface runoff

Evaporation
This process occurs when the warmth of the sun heats up
the water on the land causing the water to change into
water vapour. After it changes to water vapour, it then
rises in the air.

Condensation
Condensation occurs when the water vapour finally rises in the
sky in which it is then changed into droplets of water along with
gas and dust particles, coming together to form clouds.
Precipitation
Precipitation occurs when the water droplets along with
the gas and dust particles joined together are too much for
the cloud to hold which causes it to burst open and fall
back to the Earth in the form of rain, hail, or snow.

Surface runoff
Surface runoff occurs when there is excess rainfall on the land
because the soil cannot hold it anymore and is too saturated.
