I. Introduction:
Reading is necessary for learning, so instilling a love of reading at an early age is the key
that unlocks the door to lifelong learning. Children who value books are more motivated to
read on their own and will likely continue to hold that value for the rest of their lives. Instilling a
love of reading early gives a child a head start on expanding their vocabulary and building
independence and self-confidence. It helps children learn to make sense not only of the world
around them but also people, building social-emotional skills and of course, imagination.
The kick-off program took almost an hour and a half from 8:30-10:00 am. The program
starts with a prayer by Ma’am Judielle Audriz Z. Ylarde, T-III to be followed by other
preliminaries through an AVP. The EsP Coordinator orients the participants about the project.
She talks about the objectives and expected outcomes of this program. It was then followed
by the words of challenge from the school principal, Dr. Albert M. Bertudez, School Principal
III, claiming that we can win the battle against illiteracy by cooperation of the learners,
teachers and parent’s as well.
The launching and orientation of the program is done at exactly 10 in the morning.
Learners of Cabalaoangan Elementary Schools accepted the challenge, with unity,
cooperation; volunteerism among learners and teachers will make Project CARE, a
remarkable success.
