The 7 E’s Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Preliminaries Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning, Madam!

Prayer _____will lead the prayer.

Before we start our class,
____please go here in front and Our Father
lead a prayer. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed
be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will
be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us; and lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. Amen.

Checking of Attendance

the absent for today?
Very good class.
The learners will give a recap about the
Reviewing previous lesson previous lesson
But before anything else, what was
the topic last meeting? Now, who
can summarize our previous
discussion?

Yes _________?

A. ELICIT Okay class, I want you to arrange the

set of jumbled words that I will present
on the television.

Motivational Activity
Arrange Me!

Direction: Arrange the letter to form a

word.

The word that you will form in those

jumbled words is our topic for today.
Are you ready? Yes Madam!

1. HIL APCGRA 1. GRAPHICAL

2. SILYASAN 2. ANALYSIS
3. MOONIT 3. MOTION

So, what is our topic for today class? GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS MOTION

That’s right our topic for today is about

GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS of MOTION.
B. ENGAGE Now class, I have a question for you.

Guide Question:
1. What do you need to know in
order to determine the motion
of a given object?

Yes _______? Madam, in order to describe the motion

of a given object, you need to know its
position when you know the point of
reference, you will be able to determine
how far the object has travelled? how
fast it is moving and the direction to
where it is moving.
Very good!
Now, with the help of visual
representation like diagrams you can
easily describe the position of an
object.
Aside from the diagrams another way
of describing the motion of an object is
through the use of motion graphs.

For today’s lesson we will illustrate

motion through the use of position-time
graphs.

Are you ready to plot on a graph? Yes Madam!

C. EXPLORE But before anything else, let’s define
Position-Time Graph.
y

Illustration 1. Position-Time Graph

Guide question:
1. What can you say on the 1. Based on the illustration the
presented illustration? horizontal axis (x-axis)
2. How can you define Position- represents time, typically
Time Graph? measured in seconds. While the
vertical axis (y-axis) represents
the objects position, usually
measured in meters.
2. A Position-Time Graph is a
visual representation of an
object’s position as it changes
over time.
Very good!

Position-Time Graph is:

 It shows how far something
travels over a period of time.
 It is the representation of speed
or velocity when we indicate
the direction of the moving
object.
D. EXPLAIN Now, let us have an example.

Example: A man standing at 10m

position for 5 seconds.
Now, let us put it on a Position-Time
Graph.

But first let us consider these 3 steps:

1. Put the data on a table.

2. Plot the values as points on

the graph.

3. Draw a straight line through

the points in the graph.

Yes madam!
Is it clear to you class the 3 steps?

So, using this graph you can describe

the motion of the man.  The motion of the man is
 How can you describe the stationary.
motion of the man based on
the graph?

Exactly! Because as shown on the

graph it is in stationary motion and it
happens when an object is stationary
or not moving. Meaning it has a zero
velocity.

Now, let have another example but this

time I want you to work it by your own.
And also, you need to provide a 1. We can describe the motion of

shows a straight-line diagonal

velocity is positive one meter per
seconds.

3. A car moving with a changing car speeds up therefore the

change in speed has a curved
line in position line graph, just
like the graph of the car as it
speeds up.

E. ELABORATE Now for us to better understand the

Position-Time Graph, we also need to
understand the meaning of slopes.

Now, what is a Slope? Slope is the slant or angle of the line in

the graph.
That’s right!
Also, the shape of the line on the
graph whether straight, curved or
steeply sloped has different
interpretations of the motion of the
object.
In mathematics the slope of a line is
express in
rise
slope=
run

Or
change ∈ y
slope=
change∈ x
y 2−¿ y
slope= ¿ 1

x 2−¿ x ¿
1

For instance, in our first example

where the man is stationary or not
moving, it creates a horizontal line
when we apply the rise over run the
slope of a horizontal line will always be
equal to zero since a horizontal line
has an unchanging y value meaning
the position does not change, the rise
is equal to zero no matter what the run Because y sub 2 and y sub 1 are
is. both 10 m and based on the formula
of slope is change in y divided by
Why is that so, class? change in x therefore, therefore:
y 2−¿ y
slope= 1

x 2−¿ x ¿

slope=
2 s−1 s
0m
slope=
1s
y 2−¿ y
slope= 1
¿
x 2−¿ x ¿
1

slope=0 m/ s

Great job!
So, I want you to apply also the
formula of slope on the 3 scenario that
was given to you earlier.
Yes madam!
Is it clear class?
 If the velocity is constant, the
Now who can give me the importance slope is constant (straight line)
of slope?  If the velocity is changing, the
slope is changing (curved line)
 If the velocity is positive, the
slope is positive (moving
upwards)
 If the velocity is negative, the
slope is negative (moving
downwards)
F. EVALUATE Okay class, get ½ crosswise sheet of
paper.

answer the questions.

down motion? (refer to its color) 4. Gray
2. what color shows a stationary
motion?
3. Which line manifests a constant
fast speed?
4. Which line shows a changing
speed that’s getting faster?

Part 2: Graphing Motion

Direction: Read the scenario carefully
and create a position-time graph.

If a bicycle has a velocity of 4m/s, it

means that it travels 4m every second.
From its initial position (0m) at 0s, it
reaches the 8m position after 2s and
the 12m position after 3s. The bicycle
covers equal distances within the
same lengths of time.
