The students have choice to go in for either dual specialization or single
specialization. If the student opts for a single specialization, he/she should take five
courses in the third semester and five courses in the same specialization in the fourth
semester. If a student opts for dual specialization, he/she should choose three courses
in one specialization and two courses in another specialization in the third semester.
It would be reversed to two and three courses in the fourth semester in the same
specializations respectively.
For the department to offer any specialization, minimum number of students have to
register for that particular specialization. This minimum number would be 15 percent
of total students or lower than that as decided by the department from time to time.
The degree certificate will display the specialization stream/s pursued by the student.

OPEN ELECTIVE

Marks (25 marks for Internship Report and 25 marks for Viva Voce) and carries two
credits. The Internship Report evaluation and Viva Voce would be conducted by two
examiners (One of them will be the faculty member who has guided and other will be
the external examiner appointed by the BOE). The average of the two evaluators would
be the final marks.

DISSERTATION
The Dissertation is for a period of three months (90 days)
Every student is required to work on a dissertation preferably in the area of his/her
specialization and prepare dissertation report under the supervision of a faculty guide.
Prior to the actual work, the students are required to submit a synopsis of the
dissertation incorporating the statement of problem, objectives and methodology to be
followed and submit the same to the Department.
The dissertation duly signed by the faculty guide and certified by the Director is to be
submitted in a bound copy with a soft copy to the department before the
commencement of fourth semester end examination.
The dissertation shall be evaluated for One Hundred Fifty marks (150 marks). The
dissertation report evaluation and Viva Voce would be conducted by two examiners
(One of them will be the faculty member who has guided and other will be the external
examiner appointed by the BOE). The average of the two evaluators would be the final
marks.
Out of One Hundred Fifty marks, the dissertation report is evaluated for 100 marks (a
minimum of 50 marks is required for a pass in the dissertation report) and viva-voce

MINIMUM FOR A PASS

A candidate shall be declared to have passed the MBA program if he/she secures at
least a Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) of 5.0 (Course Alpha-Sign Grade ‘C’).
However, in each course a candidate should score a minimum of 45 marks to pass.
Anyhow, even if a student scores in any course/s more than 45 marks but his/her
aggregate in all courses put together in the particular semester is less than 50%, the
student is considered as fail. The student can take up any course/s in the forthcoming
examinations for improvement/pass to make overall SGPA of 5.0 and pass the
particular Semester. The course/s in which the student chooses to reappear, the higher
marks of the immediately two previous examinations will be considered.

GRADING SYSTEM AND FINALIZATION OF MARKS

Table of Conversion of % Marks to a Course Grade Point:
% Marks Course Grade Point
96 - 100 10.0
91 - 95 9.5
86 - 90 9.0
81 - 85 8.5

66 - 70 7.0
61 - 65 6.5
56 - 60 6.0
51 - 55 5.5
45- 50 5.0

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is calculated as follows:

Course ‘Grade Point’ is multiplied with Respective ‘Course Credit’ to get ‘Credit
Points’ in each course. The total ‘Credit Points’ of all courses is divided by the
Total Credits assigned in the Semester to get SGPA.

FINAL RESULT/GRADE DESCRIPTION

Following Table is used to convert SGPA into ‘Grade Alpha Sign’ and ‘Result/Class
Description’ for each Semester and for the whole Program CGPA (CGPA: Cumulative
Grade Point Average).
CGPA is calculated by taking total of all Semesters SGPA as the numerator and Total
Credits of the Program as the denominator.

TIME LIMIT FOR COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM

The candidate shall complete the program within four years from the date of
