5 Install a Battery Rack
To install a battery rack, follow the instructions in Install Battery Rack.
6 Mount a Power Rack
A power rack can be mounted either on top of a battery rack or on a wall. Different mounting kits are required for the
two installation alternatives.

6.1 Mount the Power Rack on a Battery Rack

This section describes how to mount a power rack on top of a battery rack with a power rack mounting kit.

Steps

To mount the power rack on top of a battery rack:

1. Install the right bracket to the bottom frame with three M6

screws.

2. Install the left bracket to the bottom frame with three M6

screws.

3. Locate the installation holes for the mounting kit on the

top of the battery rack.

4. Fix the mounting kit on top of the battery rack using four
M8 screws.

5.
Position the power rack into the mounting kit and fasten
the power rack using M6 screws on the front.

6. Fix the power rack to the mounting kit using two M4

screws on each side.

6.2 Mount the Power Rack on a Wall

This section describes how to mount the power rack on a wall with a wall mounting kit.

Steps

To mount the power rack on a wall:

1. Mark the positions of four holes on the wall according to

the drilling pattern.

2. Drill the holes to a depth of 65 mm and a diameter of 12

mm. Remove the dust and debris.

G110822A

3.
Insert the anchor bolts with sleeves into each hole.

G109542A

4. Position the left mounting bracket over the anchor bolts

and install the washers and nuts. Tighten the nuts.

5. Repeat the step above to install the right mounting

bracket.

6. Install the attachable base bar using two M5 screws.

7. Place the power rack into the mounting brackets. Install

two M3 screws in the holes on each side to fix the power
rack.

8.
Install three M4 screws in the remaining holes on each side
to fix the power rack.
7 Ground the Power Rack

Do!
Products not connected to ground risk damage from overvoltage or overcurrent. Always ground products according
to instructions.

Note: Always connect the grounding cable before connecting any other cable.

Steps

To connect the grounding cable:

1. Remove the top cover by loosening the screws.

2. Insert the grounding cable into the grounding connector

and tighten the screw.

3. Connect the other end of the grounding cable to the site grounding terminal.
8 Connect Incoming AC Power Cables
This section describes how the AC main power is installed. Power Rack 8 kW ST and Power Rack 20 kW MT have
single-route AC Input, while Power Rack 20 kW ST and Power Rack 31.5 kW have dual-route AC Input. Table 2, Table

16 Install ESC, SCU or Controller 6610 (Optional)
This section describes how to install an Ericsson Site Controller (ESC), Support Control Unit (SCU) or Controller 6610 for
Power 6210.

16.1 Install SCU 09 01 or ESC 03 02

SCU 09 01 can be used for Power Rack 8 kW ST, Power Rack 20 kW ST and Power Rack 31.5 kW. ESC 03 02 can be
used for Power Rack 20 kW MT. The SCU and ESC are installed in a similar way. This section uses the installation of the
SCU on Power Rack 8 kW ST as an example.
Note: The illustrations in this section show the SCU or ESC installed on the front left side of the power rack. If an SAU
is used, install the SCU or ESC on the front right side of the power rack.

Steps

To install the SCU or ESC:

1. Install a SCU or ESC holder using two M6 screws.

2. Snap the SCU or ESC into the holder.

3. Route the communication cable out of the power rack

through the outlet on the top. Connect the cable to the
serial port on the SCU or ESC.
4. Install a 6 A circuit breaker in the power rack for the SCU or
ESC following the instructions in Install DC Load Circuit
Breakers.

For Power Rack 20 kW MT, the 6 A circuit breaker is pre-

installed in the PL 1 of User 4.

Ge160927B

5. Insert the power cable to −48 V DC port on the ESC or SCU.

Connect the other end of the power cable to the 6 A circuit
breaker in the power rack.

16.2 Install ESC 02 01

ESC 02 01 is optional equipment for Power Rack 20 kW MT. It can be installed in the top layer of the battery rack with a
23''/19'' rail kit or in another 19-inch rack or cabinet. When installing the ESC in another 19-inch rack, consider the
length of the communication cable. The cable length limits the distance between the ESC and the power rack.

Steps

To install the ESC:

1. Install a 23''/19'' rail kit on the front of the top layer of the
battery rack following the instructions in Install Battery
Rack.

2.
Select a 0.5 U space that the ESC is to occupy. Insert the
captive nuts in the 23''/19'' rail kit.

3. Insert and position the ESC in the rack. Insert screws in the
top holes of the brackets first.

4. Insert screws in the bottom holes. Tighten the screws.

5. Connect the DC power cable to either of the two power

ports on the ESC.

6. Connect the DC power cable to the DC distribution unit of

Power Rack 20 kW MT as shown in Connect DC Load
Cables.

7.
Route the communication cable out of the power rack and
connect it to serial port SER-1 or SER-2.

16.3 Install Controller 6610

Controller 6610 can be used for Power Rack 8 kW ST, Power Rack 20 kW ST, Power Rack 31.5 kW and Power Rack 20
kW MT. This section uses the installation of Controller 6610 on Power Rack 8 kW ST as an example.
Note: The illustrations in this section show Controller 6610 installed on the front left side of the power rack. If an SAU
is used, install Controller 6610 on the front right side of the power rack.

Steps

1. Install a holder with two M6 screws.

2. Snap Controller 6610 into the holder.

Ge24894A

3.
Route the communication cable out of the power rack
through the outlet on the top. Connect the cable to the
SERIAL 1 port on Controller 6610.

Ge24895B

4. To enable access to the power system controller administration web GUI, connect the cable (RPM 777 143/L) from
the Controller 6610 port TN B to the power system controller. See Port Forwarding for more information about the
functionality.

5. Install a 6 A circuit breaker in the power rack for Controller

6610 as shown in Install DC Load Circuit Breakers.

For Power Rack 20 kW MT, the 6 A circuit breaker is pre-

installed in the PL 1 of User 4.

This section describes how to install the optional Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) power shelf in the equipment
compartment.

The 8 kW (R-state≥R2A) and 31.5 kW (R-state≥R2A) power rack can be equipped with a maximum of one and two
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) power shelves respectively.

The MPPT is a technique commonly used in the photovoltaic solar systems for high efficiency power extraction under all
conditions (variation of sunlight).

The photovoltaic panels must be connected in series and parallel as to not exceed the maximum input voltage and
maximum input current of the solar module.

Make sure the MPPT power shelf is equipped with an SPD according to the site installation requirements and MPPT
power shelf specifications. For more information, see Power System Units Description.

Warning!

High energy levels are present in this unit. Improper handling of the unit might lead to short circuits that might result
in serious injury.

Exercise care when working with this unit.

Note: The input voltage of the MPPT power shelf is up to 420 V DC.
