Honest
Honest
You
study hard in your exam while your friend will always copy off some nerd during the test.
You got an A but your friends don't. Instead, he got an F. That is because the teacher
caught him cheating while he only see you focus on your work. Honesty means you are
free of dissincere, lies and untruthfulness. There are many reasons why it should be in
the 9th principle of the class community along with the other 8. From your perspective to
everyone's perspective, there are many benefits of being honest.
Firstly, honesty equals calm. Having you ever lie before, because I have.
Whenever you lie, you will be nervous and stressed about getting caught. Of course,
unless you are a spy, even that, you will always have a pang of unease. When you are
honest, you have nothing to hide, therefore, have no reason to imagine your secrets
being spilled. Therefore, you have more focus on other things like work and study. It
also means that you feel more good about yourself, making you more motivated. On the
contrary, dishonesty makes you guilty and will always make you confess in anyways,
therefore lowering your concentration.
Secondly, honesty means you can do your part of a group work with your
classmates. If you are truthful and honest, your groupmate will trust you to do big jobs,
and even confidently make you the leader. That is the same in class president, student
council, anything. Gaining trust from people at your school could foster positive
relationships, therefore making less enemies and rivals. If you want a normal high
school life, you better have a good relationship with everyone and being honest is one
way. Otherwise, you might get bullied.
Lastly, being honest means that teachers and parents can trust you. They will
give you privileges as they will know that you will use them wisely. For example, they
can let you go to breakout rooms because they know you won't be off task. If you are a
dishonest person however, they will act like an authoritarian leader and monitor you
closely. You might feel like everyone is looking at every move you make, thinking you
might make a mistake. This could lower your motivation and confidence in doing
something. So being honest means you are trusted you can work independently,
therefore, can focus more on work and increase your concentration. Concentration is
important as it could help you make your best effort on your work, making a good
ending.
Overall, those are just 3 of the many benefits of being honest. Being honest will
make you feel good about yourself, gain trust from and be nominated as leader by
students at your school and be on the good side of teachers and parents. Not just that,
but you can also get a job much more easily when you reach adulthood as people trust
you to take the job seriously. These are the reasons why honesty could be and should
be the 9th principle of our class community.
