METHODOLOGY/DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I. Scope of Work:
• Topographic Survey:
Perform topographic survey in Area shown in Drawing No.: HA-010302 Sheet 001, Rev. 00
provided to Gulf Bridge Lab covering approximately 29,000 sq. meters.
All elevations shall be tied to existing benchmarks located within/near to the boundary of
the site.
Topographic survey shall cover to map out all existing features within the area or limit of
survey.
Existing benchmark elevations if any will be confirmed relative to Saudi Aramco Vertical
Datum (SAVD).
1.1 All survey control station points will be established using Precise Dual Frequency Sokkia
GPS equipment. Static survey will be performed in static mode, logging at ten (10) second
epoch intervals. Tow (2) GPS receivers will be used as a minimum requirement to observe
each static baseline. The accuracy of the GPS equipment is shown below:
1.2 During the static survey, each new major survey benchmark will be observed from two
known benchmarks within the project area. In the network design, all new benchmarks will
be well located and distributed throughout to avoid trivial baseline observations, as such
baselines could affect the accuracy of the overall control network. During the static survey,
redundant baselines will be used to add additional weight and integrity to the control
network.
1.3 Downloading will be performed for each day's GPS observations and processing using
MicroStation & Civil 3D software. Processing will be done separately for every measured
baseline and the latest ALMANAC will be downloaded from the survey program connected
to Internet for be able to get the Precise ephemeris reference prior to processing. All survey
control will be based on UTM (Zone 39) Ain Al Abd coordinates.
2. Traverse Procedures:
2.1 In case of traverse, traverse will be run occupying all the other satellite stations including
major survey stations. Three (3) sets of observations for the horizontal angles and
horizontal distances between stations. Recording will be done manually on our standard
traverse forms.
2.2 Calculations will be done using least square adjustment program and using GPS points as
fixed stations. At least two (2) reference points for each traverse run.
3. Leveling:
1.1 All elevation runs will be performed by precise leveling, using Leica automatic level or DNA
03 Digital Level, for each of the control benchmarks.
1.2 In order to achieve the required degree of integrity, in the leveling loop, each observation
will be included and should start and finished from a known benchmark.
1.3 The required misclosure tolerance will be checked for each loop and it shall be adjusted in
case the levels are permissible.
1.4 Proper precise leveling procedures such as equal foresights and backsights will be followed.
1.5 All level runs will be adjusted using Starlev software for automatic level and Design and
Adjustment software for digital levels.
4. Topographic Survey:
4.1 Topographic survey will be carried out by survey crew equipped with SOKKIA GRX2 GPS
with a combination of Leica total stations and Leica levels with reference to WGS 84
coordinates.
4.2 All above ground features and spot elevations shall be located and to be reflected on the
survey drawings.
4.3 For underground services and utilities, detection is not part of this scope, although their
above ground identifiers shall be identified such as cable markers, pipeline markers, anode
bed, etc.
4.4 In areas within the water with depths less than 1m, will be surveyed using conventional
method, (i.e. man will pole or GPS receiver walking to collect data for elevations of seabed).
This area is not possible for boat to approach and determine soundings using echo sounder.
Description Responsibilities
Party Chief (1) Topographic Survey in charge
Instrument Man (1) For Topographic Survey
Rodman (1) For Topographic Survey
During the progress of the survey, regular checking of data from the field and processing of
drawings including calculations will be performed by our field survey supervisors and field
engineers.
1.1 Daily Status Reports shall include a summary of survey progress in the previous
24 hours and other significant operational events. These will be relayed to the
main office in Alkhobar.
2. Final Reporting:
2.1 FINAL Report and drawings shall be undertaken at Gulf Bridge Lab's Alkhobar
main office.
2.2 The draft final report shall be delivered within eight (8) working days upon arrival
of data in Alkhobar. A further five (5) working days is required for incorporation
of Client's comments.
2.3 The draft final report deliverables shall be 1 hard and 1 digital copies. Final report
and charts after Client's review shall be 1 hard and 1 digital copies.
2.4 Final reports shall be integrated, to provide a single and coherent picture and
assessment of the site.
2.5 Charts and reporting shall incorporate all recorded all levels, features & contour
lines.
2.6 Contours shall be generated at 0.25m intervals for area of sufficient data density.
Two sets of ASCII formatted Digital Terrain Model (DTM) based on MSL and ACD
datum shall be generated and delivered to Client...
2.7 The consolidated report shall comprise two (2) volumes. Volume I shall contain
text descriptions for the entire project. The contents will comprise:
2.8 Volume II shall contain the plan charts, each data set shall be presented as a
series:
2.8.1 Topography
2.9 Charts shall also be presented in digital format, AutoCAD, Microstation and PDF.
