7. How to play RTSP streaming?

The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a network control protocol designed for use in
communications systems to control streaming media servers.

7.1 Using VLC Player to View RTSP Streaming


Note 1: This information is provided for convenience only. We will not provide support for the installation
or use of VLC software.

Note 2: The IP address used in the document are the default URLs and are provided for example
purposes only. You will need to use an IP address that is appropriate for your network.

Installing VLC Player


- Install VLC Player (version 1.0.5) from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
- Launch VLC Player
- Click on Media _Open Network Stream

- On the ‘Network’ tab, choose RTSP under the ‘Protocol’ menu.


- Input the IP address with port number of the stream that you want to view under the ‘Address’ field.
- Press Play and you will see the image streaming.

Default URL:
MJPEG Primary rtsp://192.168.1.30:8555/mjpeg
MJPEG Third rtsp://192.168.1.30:8558/mjpeg
H.264 Primary rtsp://192.168.1.30:8557/h264
H.264 Secondary rtsp://192.168.1.30:8556/h264
MPEG4 Primary rtsp://192.168.1.30/mpeg4
MPEG4 Secondary rtsp://192.168.1.30:8554/mpeg4
