Graffiti

Graffiti is a form of art or writing created in public spaces, often using spray paint or markers, and has sparked debate over its classification as art or vandalism. Originating from ancient civilizations, modern graffiti emerged in the 1960s in New York City as part of hip-hop culture and has since gained recognition through famous artists like Banksy and Jean-Michel Basquiat. While graffiti can enhance urban environments and reflect community culture, it also faces legal challenges and criticism for its association with vandalism.

community. Some cities are famous for their graffiti,
attracting tourists.
Problems with Graffiti
Graffiti is popular and can be seen in many
museums and art galleries, although in many
countries it is still illegal and you could be fined.

messy and damages property. Cities spend large
amounts of money to clean graffiti from public
and private spaces.Artists often work in unsafe
areas or at night to avoid getting caught.
Legal graffiti
Some cities allow graffiti on designated walls or spaces to
support artists. Graffiti is now recognized as a legitimate
art form and is displayed in galleries. Legal graffiti reduces
illegal activity and encourages creativity.

create their work. It’s a way to express emotions,
identity, and social issues. More people are now accepting
graffiti as an important art form. Whether you love it or
not, graffiti influences modern art and city culture.
