Week 5

Interprofessional Partnerships

Discussion

Purpose

The purpose of this discussion is to explore the importance of interprofessional


partnerships in the successful implementation of an evidence-based change project.

Course Outcomes

This discussion enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:

CO 2: Proposes leadership and collaboration strategies for use with consumers


and other healthcare providers in managing care and/or delegating
responsibilities for health promotion, illness prevention, health restoration and
maintenance, and rehabilitative activities. (PO 2)
CO 3: Demonstrates effective communication with patients, colleagues, and
other healthcare providers in managing safe/quality healthcare processes
using evidence-based practices. (PO 3)
CO 4: Integrates clinical nursing judgment using effective communication
strategies with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare providers. (PO 4)

Due Date

Graded discussions in Weeks 1-7 are due Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MT. For courses with
Week 8 graded discussions, the discussion will close on Saturday at 11:59 p.m. MT. All
Week 8 discussion requirements must be met by this deadline.

Total Points Possible


This discussion is worth a total of 100 points.

Preparing the Discussion

Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the discussion. Abide by

Directions

Discussion: Apply Knowledge

Step 1: Answer the discussion prompts below with explanation and detail.

Paragraph one: Imagine you are a member of a Quality Improvement Council that has
an interprofessional membership, and you want to implement your change project.
Summarize the overall goal of your change project and recognize Council members as
stakeholders in the process.

Paragraph two: Describe each Council member’s roles and responsibilities specific to
the change project. Explain how you would lead, inform, and coordinate the steps of the
change project and leverage the expertise of each stakeholder.

Paragraph three: Explain how you would address conflicts or concerns among Council
members during the planning of the change project. Describe strategies you could use
to address resistance to change.

References: Provide complete references for all citations.

Posts should meet the following criteria:

I. Integrate Evidence: Cite at least two sources of evidence in weekly posts.


1. Integrate evidence from assigned reading(s) OR lesson.
2. Integrate evidence from at least one outside scholarly source as directed
in the discussion directions.
3. Integrate evidence that supports the discussion.
4. Cite all scholarly sources, reading(s), OR lessons in an in-text citation
within the post and include a complete reference at the bottom of the post.
5. Use sources no more than five years old unless they are historical
references.
II. Engage in Meaningful Dialogue: Engage with peers and/or faculty by asking
questions and offering new insights, applications, perspectives, information, or
implications for practice.
1. Respond to a peer and/or faculty post.
2. Provide additional information or clarification in the reply post.
3. Add depth to the discussion.
III. Communicate Professionally: Communicates professionally on all posts.
1. Communicate clearly and concisely.
2. Communicate respectfully, civilly, and caringly.
3. Communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax,
and punctuation.
IV. Participate: Participates during the assigned week.
1. Post in the discussion at least two times.
2. Post in the discussion on two different days.
