Indonesia's Political, Economic, and Socio-Cultural Affected by Japanese Colonization

1. The Political Domain

The Indonesian A'la Islamic Council (MIAI) was the only group that remained intact. In 1943, MIAI was
dissolved due to a perceived danger to Japan's interests. K.H. Hasyim Asy'ari's Indonesian Muslim Shura
Council (Masyumi) took its place.Almost no human rights were observed during the Japanese
occupation. Japan took the following actions to win over the compassion of the people of Indonesia:

1. Prohibit the use of Dutch and promote Indonesian as the language of instruction.

2. Using the Three A Movement to establish collaboration with nationalist leaders

.3. Soekarno, Hatta, Ki Hajar Dewantara, and K.H. Mas Mansyur formed the People's Power Center
(Putera) organization, with Soekarno serving as its leader

.4. On August 1, 1943, the Central Advisory Body, also known as Chuo Sangi In, was established

.5. Established the Japanese Worship Association, or Jawa Hokokai, in 19442.

2. The Financial Industry

Indonesia is to become an industrial hub and military base for Japan. The following things demonstrate
this:

1. Seize significant financial assetsJapan seized factories, banks, significant businesses, and all plantation
products (tea, coffee, rubber, and sugar cane). Hunger, destitution, and a food crisis followed

.2. Implement stringent oversight in the financial industryThe goal of strict oversight is to stop product
price hikes.

3. Policy for self-sufficiencyGuidelines for meeting personal needs in a single domain. The policy's effect
is the breakup of economic ties between areas.

4. Famine, mandatory deposits, romusha, and declining food pricesDuring the 1944 conflict, Java
Hokokai, a representative of Japan, gave the people orders to give the government 30% of their food
supplies, 30 % to local granaries, and 40 % to their property rights. Many farms were abandoned as a
result of the romusha, resulting to a shortage of food, the emergence of disease outbreaks, and the total
collapse of the economy.
3. The Social Sphere

the Romusha System's formation

Romusha was called upon to provide war counsel for Vietnam, Burma, Thailand (Thailand), and Malaysia
in addition to Indonesia.

Education

Postsecondary education reopened in 1943. Hakko Ichiu, which translates to "Eight Corners of the World
Under One Roof," was the motto given to the pupils. The Japanese Empire ruled over one of the roofs in
question.

Language Usage and Social Hierarchy

The instruction language must be Indonesian. In addition, a new system of stratification emerged during
the Dutch East Indies era, placing regional above Europeans and foreign Easterners.

4. The Cultural Field

Indonesians must make a deep bow, known as Seikeirei, towards the rising sun in Japan. Following that,
Islamic boarding school groups in Tasikmalaya began to protest in 1944. Songs, movies, and dramas all
have Japanese influence, which is a kind of Japanese propaganda. The founding of Keimin Bunkei
Shidoso, an educational institution that serves as a venue for the advancement of Indonesian art and a
guide for creators to ensure that their creations do not conflict with or diverge from Japan.
