(III) Estimate the instantaneous rate of growth in 1996 by measuring the slope of a tangent.

C A small-appliance manufacturer finds that it costs Rs.9000 to produce 1000 toaster ovens a week
and Rs.12,000 to produce 1500 toaster ovens a week. (i) Express the cost as a function of the 07
number of toaster ovens produced, assuming that it is linear. Then sketch the graph. (ii)What is
the slope of the graph and what does it represent? (iii) What is the y-intercept of the graph and
what does it represent?

formula for the water level as a function of time,

c The circle below has a radius of 1, and the longer circular arc joining A and B is twice as long as
the chord AB. Use Newton-Raphson method to find the length of the chord AB, correct to 4 decimal
places.

c Suppose four point masses are placed on a number line as follows: m1=30kg at x1=-2m,
m2=5kg at x2=3m, m3=10kg at x3=6m and m4=15kg at x4=-3m.Find the moment of the system 7
with respect to the origin and find the center of mass of the system.
