Although I enjoy the comfort of studying at home, I find that
I’m much more productive in a library. At home, it’s too easy
to procrastinate or get distracted by something around the
house. In the library, though, the quiet environment and the fact
that everyone around me is focused really helps me knuckle
down and concentrate. Plus, the lack of distractions makes it
easier to power through longer study sessions, especially when
I’m up against the clock for exams.
To procrastinate: Trì hoãn, chần chừ.
helps me knuckle down: Giúp tôi tập trung, làm việc chăm chỉ
hơn.
Up against the clock: Bị áp lực thời gian, làm việc gấp rút.
3. What part of your school do you like the most?
The part of my school I liked the most is definitely the
library. It is my little slice of heaven – so quiet and peaceful,
the perfect place to study without distractions. It has such a cozy
atmosphere, with comfy chairs and lots of natural light. I can
spend hours there, especially during exam season. In a way, I
feel like the library is the heart and soul of my academic life.
Slice of heaven: Nơi yên bình, tuyệt vời (như thiên
đường).
Heart and soul: Phần quan trọng nhất, trung tâm tinh
thần của một nơi.
4. What do you find most interesting about your studies? (Why?)
4
I’d say I study best in the morning. My mind is fresher and I
can concentrate better. By the afternoon, I find that I'm
easily distracted and not as productive.
Riding a Bicycles
1. Do you like riding a bicycle?
Yes, I really enjoy riding a bicycle! It’s a fantastic way to stay
fit and explore new places. However, I don’t ride often because
the streets are usually crowded and unsafe for cyclists.
2. Are there many young people riding bicycles in VietNam?
Not as many as in the past. Most young people prefer motorbikes
since they’re faster and more convenient. However, some still
use bicycles, especially students or those who enjoy cycling as a
form of exercise.
3. Would you cycle more in the future?
I think I would, but only if the roads become safer and there are
more designated cycling lanes. Right now, it feels a bit risky, but
I’d love to cycle more for health and environmental reasons.
4. Do you think bicycles would do well in your city?
Bicycles could be great here, but the chaotic traffic and lack of
bike lanes make it challenging. If the city improves
the infrastructure, I’m sure cycling will become more popular,
especially for short distances.
Talking with others
1. Do you like to talk to others?
Yes, I enjoy talking to others since I'm such a chatterbox. It's a
great way to share ideas, learn new things, and connect with
5
people. Plus, engaging in meaningful conversations not only
strengthens relationships but also spices up life.
2. Did you like to talk to others when you were a child?
When I was a child, I loved talking to others, especially my friends.
I was pretty outgoing, extroverted and enjoyed sharing stories or
just simply shooting the breeze about whatever popped into my
head.
3. Do you talk a lot to others?
It depends on the situation. If I'm with friends or in a comfortable
setting, I’m more likely to open up and chat away. But in
more formal situations, I tend to keep a low profile and
only speak up when it’s called for.
Teacher
1. Do you have a favourite teacher?
Yes, I have a favorite teacher, and that would be my math teacher,
Mrs. Lam. Her teaching style is engaging and interactive, which
helps to maintain my interest and enthusiasm in the subject. She is
patient, approachable, and always willing to provide extra support
when needed. Thanks to Mrs. Lam’s guidance and dedication, I
have developed a strong passion for mathematics and a deep
appreciation for her as my favorite teacher.
2. How has she/he helped you?
She’s helped me a lot by giving extra support when I struggled,
and her feedback really built my confidence. She also pushed me
to participate more in class, which improved my speaking skills.
3. Do you want to be a teacher in the future?
No, I don't have a desire to become a teacher in the future. While
I have immense respect for the teaching profession and the
important role educators play, I personally have different
career aspirations. I am more inclined towards pursuing a career
in the field of technology or research.
6
4. Who was your favourite teacher in elementary school ? Why?
My primary school teachers were kind and nurturing. They
created a warm and supportive learning environment. Moreover,
they were patient and understanding, always ready to answer our
questions and offer guidance.
Their dedication and enthusiasm made learning enjoyable, and I
have fond memories of my primary school teachers.
My favorite teacher in elementary school was my math teacher.
She made math fun and easy to understand, plus she was patient.
Her class was always something I looked forward to because she
had a positive attitude.
Free time
1. What do you like to do in your free time?
All sorts of things, I’d say. Most of the time, when I have time on
my hand, I tend to go for a stroll in the park near my house so
that I can take in some fresh air and recharge my batteries.
In my free time, I enjoy reading books, practicing yoga, and
spending time with my friends and family.
I usually like to relax and watch TV shows, read books, or listen
to music. I also enjoy going for walks or spending time outdoors
if the weather is nice.
2. What kinds of activities do you often do in your spare time?
PART 2
Topic 1: Describe an online video where you learned something new.
7
You should say:
When and Where you watched it
What it was
Why you watched it
And explain what you have learned from it
Sample
- So, I’d like to share an experience about a time I watched an
online video that really helped me with my IELTS preparation,
specifically the listening section. I came across this video on YouTube
while I was searching for ways to improve my listening skills, as that’s
the area I was struggling with.
- Since I started using this technique, I’ve made great progress. I’ve
become more attentive and have finally gotten the hang of
identifying specific words and phrases, even in fast-
8
paced conversation. And I can't help but feel a sense of pride welling
up in my heart.
PART 3
1. What kinds of videos are most popular in your country?
To the best of my knowledge, individuals are really into a mix
of content. Comedy videos, especially short skits,
normally reign supreme, because they’re light-hearted and
easy to share. Educational videos are also gaining popularity,
with more students turning to YouTube for study tips or tutorials.
On top of that, music videos and trending challenges definitely
draw a lot of attention, particularly from younger audiences.”
2. Are there many people who watch online videos a lot?
Definitely, it appears to me that everyone is glued to online
videos these days, whether it’s YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram.
And It’s not just young people, —it’s become a habit across the
board. Videos are such an easy way to take in information
or unwind after a long day. On top of that, The fact that they’re
so accessible on smartphones makes them an integral part of
our daily routine, which is almost impossible to avoid.
3. Do you think people spend too much time on watching short
videos? Why?
Yeah, I do think people spend an excessive amount of time on
short videos. It’s so easy to lose track of time because one video
leads to another. The endless scrolling is designed to be
addictive, and before you know it, an hour or more has passed. It
can be distracting, especially when it starts cutting
into productivity or getting in the way of real-life interactions.
It’s all about moderation.
4. Why are so many young people obsessed with short videos?
9
I think young people are hooked on short videos because
they’re quick and entertaining. Especially, in today’s fast-paced
world, people don’t always have the time or attention span to
sit through long content. Short videos offer
instant gratification and often feature relatable, bite-
sized content that’s easy to share. Social media platforms have
also fine-tuned their algorithms to keep us coming back for
more, so it’s no brainer that it's a bit addictive!
5. What are the advantages of online learning?
There are definitely numerous perks to e-learning. For starters,
it's incredibly flexible—you can learn at your own pace and fit it
into your schedule. On top of that, it’s much more accessible
since you don’t have to be tied to a specific place. Plus, there’s a
wide range of resources available, often free or at a fraction of
the cost. It’s a real game-changer that transcends geographical
boundaries, especially for those who prefer studying on their own
or live in areas where educational opportunities are limited.
6. Do you think online learning will replace face-to-face learning?
Well, actually, I don’t believe that online learning will ever
completely take over traditional face-to-face education, at least
not in the foreseeable future. Admittedly, while online classes
offer convenience and accessibility, in-person learning has
certain advantages you just can't replicate online such as direct
interaction and immediate feedback from teachers. Personally, I
would say that we’ll see more of a hybrid approach, where
students can pick the option that works best for them, depending
on their individual needs.
10
When it happened
What it was
Why it made you feel confident
And explain how you felt about it
Sample 1
- I still vividly remember an experience that gave my confidence a
serious boost. It was last semester when I had to give a presentation
for a major project in one of my advanced courses. We were tasked
with researching a pretty complex topic and then presenting our
findings to the class and a panel of professors. To be honest, it was
no walk in the park.
- The topic I had to tackle was cutting-edge technology in renewable
energy, which, to be fair, was completely outside my comfort zone. I
spent weeks burning the midnight oil—researching, preparing, and
practicing my delivery. When the big day finally rolled around, I was
really nervous and had butterflies in my stomach. But surprisingly,
the moment I stood in front of the class and professors, I felt
a surge of confidence. I managed to deliver the presentation
smoothly, kept the audience engaged, and even handled the Q&A
session like a pro.
- The outcome was nothing short of amazing. The professors showered
me with compliments on both my research and how clearly I
communicated everything. They even said my work could be used as
a reference for future classes, which absolutely made my day. I
couldn’t help but feel proud and validated after all that hard work.
- Honestly, to me, it was a moment where all the hard work paid off. It
also pushes me to take on more challenging projects to test my limits
and discover my potential.

Part 3
1. What can teachers do to help their students become more
confident?
Teachers can help build students' confidence by creating a
welcoming and encouraging classroom environment. For
example, they can praise students for their efforts, encourage
them to participate in discussions, and provide
positive reinforcement. Offering opportunities for students to
take on leadership roles or present their work can also make a
big difference in boosting their self-esteem.
12
2. How can teachers help their students become more confident
by rewarding them for studying?
Teachers can boost students' confidence by rewarding their
hard work. Simple rewards, like giving praise, certificates, or
even small treats, can make students feel recognized and
valued. It’s about acknowledging their effort and progress,
which motivates them to keep working hard
and reinforces their belief in their own abilities.
3. What can teachers do to make studying more interesting?
To make studying more engaging, teachers can mix things up
with interactive activities and real-world examples. Instead of
just lectures, they could use games, multimedia, or group
projects. For instance, incorporating videos, role plays, or
hands-on experiments can make lessons more dynamic and
help students connect better with the material.
4. Do you think that children of confident parents are also
confident?
Yes, definitely. Children often look up to their parents as role
models. If parents are confident and supportive, kids are more
likely to develop the same traits. When parents model positive
behavior and offer encouragement, it helps children feel more
secure and self-assured in their own abilities.
5. Why do so many people lack confidence these days?
A lot of people struggle with confidence because of high
societal expectations and constant comparisons, especially
with social media. The pressure to measure up can
be overwhelming, and negative self-talk or past failures
can erode self-esteem. Plus, the constant comparison to others
can make people feel like they're not good enough.
