errF000lan_problem_TSS_044_STP_EN

The document addresses the F000 error encountered by Kyocera network devices when the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is enabled in a network environment. It provides several workarounds, including checking router configurations, adjusting STP timeout settings, disabling STP on unmanaged switches, and using the optional Network Card I-50. These measures aim to prevent CPU or RAM issues caused by STP-related broadcast storms.

Description: When the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is switched on for Routers and Switches in a Network
Environment it’s possible that Kyocera Printers and MFP Devices will run into an F000 Error.
Below you will find some workarounds which are depending on the customer’s needs and the used environment.

Corrective Measure / Field Measure

1.) First Workaround

Check the Configuration of the Router andSwitches for Spanning Tree Protocol for correct Configuration

Example:

Otherwise a STP Broadcast Storm can happen, and the Kyocera Device might run into a CPU or RAM Problem.
If the internal network card is used the error F000 may occur.

2.) Second Workaround

If manageable Switches and Routers are used configure the STP time out to a higher value. This can be done
on e.g. Cisco and HP Switches.
Example of the command with CISCO Switches (Root Switch):

Configure terminal
spanning-tree vlan vlan-id root primary [diameter net-diameter [hello-time seconds]]
[hello-time seconds = STP Time Out Value

3.) Third Workaround
When using an unmanageable Switch (for small Offices) switch off the Spanning Tree Protocol if this is supported by the
Switch.

4.) Fourth Workaround

Use the optional Network Card I-50. The IB-50 has an own CPU that will be shared
with the internal CPU of the Kyocera Device and additional STP packages are ignored
