3.NATIONAL TEAMS

3.5.4a Additional documentation required

For pilots
✓ Membership of FAI (Sporting License)
✓ Valid calibrations of GNSS FR
All documents that are required to be carried on board the sailplane

(See section 3.5.4b)
For all team members
Personal medical insurance (covering accidents and sickness,
including any hospital costs and transportation back to the team
✓ member’s country of residence) is required for all team members.
Documentary proof of insurance must be provided in the English
language and provided by pilots during registration for themselves
and by the team caption during registration for all other team
members.

3.6.1 Third Party Insurance coverage is required of at least

Coverage of at least SDR 750,000 is required for gliders with certified MTOM
< 500kg
Coverage of at least SDR 1,500,000 is required for gliders with certified
MTOM ≥ 500kg
Third-Party Insurance Certificate must be in English language

4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
4.1.1c Flight Tracing Devices may be required to be carried on board

4.1.1d High-visibility markings are not required

Additional Mandatory Equipment


✓ Strobe light is not mandatory, but recommended
For safety reasons FLARM collision avoidance transceivers must be

enabled for the duration of the championships
✓ The installation and use of FLARM is mandatory
At technical inspection, competitors will be required to demonstrate that

the FLARM is operational
✓ The FLARM should remain operational during all flights
Random checks of function and range may be carried out to ensure that
✓ FLARM transmission and reception is satisfactory for adequate collision
avoidance
Pilots may configure their collision avoidance transceivers in any way they

wish, provided the collision avoidance transmissions are preserved
✓ Audio variometer must be fitted and used in all sailplanes
All instruments, PDA, GPS navigators etc. must be firmly mounted in the

glider in such a way that the pilot’s vision is not affected

5. GENERAL FLYING PROCEDURES

7. COMPETITION PROCEDURES

Preferred landing will be a “DIRECT LANDING” to the allocated runway
Gliders with more energy may elect to do a finish followed by a NORTH circuit to
the nominated runway
The procedures for joining the circuit of the runway in use for speed finishers
will be specified at the self briefing

7.10.1 Landing procedures

8. SCORING
8.1 Scoring System to be used in Classic
8.1 Scoring software to be used is SeeYou 10.60 – or newer will be
specified at the first briefing

D. WAIVERS AND LIMITATIONS


1. Clarification of 5.4f
Competitors must submit a Flight Log for evaluation on each day (from the
beginning of the official training period until the Closing Ceremony) on which a
launch was made, regardless of the outcome of the flight(s). If the submitted Flight
Log does not provide data from all flights made during the day, the submission of
additional Flight Logs is required, for the purpose of covering all the flights made
that day.

2. Extension of 2023 waiver through 2024 (optional use of para. 7.4.6)


The use of Energy Control at the Start is optional at the discretion of the Director.
Each day at Briefing and on the Task Sheet, it must be stated whether the
procedure described in Annex A para. 7.4.6 will be used.

3. Change to Annex A para. 3.4.3d(ii) Reigning Champions


For Continental Gliding Championships: With the exception of the 20 Metre Multi-
seat Class, the current Champions of each CGC and current JEGC Champions may
compete as additional members of their team in their relevant classes in that
Continental Gliding Championship.

4. Change to Annex A para. 8.7

Penalty for PEV start outside of PEV interval: 1 point per second up to a maximum
of 60 points.

5. Clarification of Annex A para. 5.3 External Aid to Competitors


Reception of data by a fixed mobile phone for display on a flight instrument
a)
is allowed. There is no restriction on the information contained in that data.
Reception of data from the ground must be from publically available

sources
Two-way voice communication on VHF between members of the Team

(including the Team Captain) is not restricted in any way.
