Basic Rules for Voice Change

Present Tense:

Voice Simple Continuous Perfect


S + V1 + O S + ‘be verb’ + Ving + O S + have verb + V3 + O
Active
He plays guitar. He is playing guitar. He has played guitar.
O + be verb + V3 + ‘by’ + S O + be verb + ‘being’ + V3 + ‘by’ + S O + have verb + ‘been’ + V3 + ‘by’ + S
Passive
Guitar is played by him. Guitar is being played by him. Guitar has been played by him.

Past Tense:

Voice Simple Continuous Perfect

Active
He played guitar. He was playing guitar. He had played guitar.
