How to Create a Daily Schedule

Creating a daily schedule will help your student stay on track with their daily lessons and provide them
with time-management skills.

What to know before creating a schedule:

• Refer to your student’s Planner for the number of lessons assigned each week.
• Locate LiveLesson session times and other extracurricular activities.
• Consider times that work best for you and your student when blocking off lesson times. Ask
questions such as:
• Is your student more productive in the morning?
• Are you free to help them during their difficult courses?

Tips for creating a schedule:

• Include your student in the creation of the schedule. This will help provide ownership.
• Remember to include brain breaks, snack time, and extracurricular activities.
• Set up your schedule according to the number of lessons weekly from the online classroom.
• Post the schedule for your student to refer to during the day.
• Set your student up for success—if they have any overdue lessons by the end of the day Friday,
schedule time on the weekend to work.
• As your student begins completing lessons, you may find you need to adjust your master schedule.

Note: Online school does provide your student with extra flexibility throughout the day, however, your
student will still need to fulfill state attendance requirements and complete their daily lessons. See your
school handbook for your state’s requirements.

Resources to construct your schedule:

• Refer to the How to Create a Block Schedule resource, to group like subjects.
• Utilize the following examples to create single and multiple student schedules:
• Create a master schedule for the Learning Coach and review that you did not overlap with
students who may need assistance during that time.
• Create a computer-generated schedule using the following template.
