LEARNING COMPETENCY: React to lay value judgment on critical issues that demand
sound analysis and call for prompt actions. (EN9VC – IVg – 14)

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of lesson, students be able to:


a. Take a stand on critical issues brought up in the material viewed or read
b. Stress the importance of taking a stand on critical issues.

Participles is a verbal that is used as an adjective


and most often ends in -ing or -ed.
A participle may make use of the past participle
of the verb or its present participle (-ing form).
The one-word participle comes before the noun it
modifies.

There are two types of participles: All: The two types of participles are present and
1. The present participle (ending in -ing) past participle.
2. The past participle (ending -ed, -d, -t, -en, -
n)

Present Participle is a form by adding the suffix


‘ing’ to the present tense of the verb.

Example: Verb+ ing = Present Participle


Jump + ing = Jumping
Boil + ing = Boiling
Collect + ing= Collecting
Burn + ing = Burning
Break + ing = Breaking

Verbs ending in e+d move+ed= moved
Verbs ending in a consonant carry+ed= carried

groups. You are going to construct sentences
using present and past participles on how you will
respond to the following scenarios. You will
perform it through role play. Use at least two
present and two past participles in writing your
narratives. I will give you 5 minutes to do your
tasks.

Group 1 – “You caught your classmate cheating


during an examination. What do you do?”
Group 2 - “You saw a snatcher steal a woman’s
shoulder bag. What do you do?”
