Effectiveness of Catch-up Friday on the Reading Comprehension of Grade 12 students

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study will determine how Catch-up Friday affects reading comprehension of Grade 12
Students of NINHS. Specifically, it will seek the following problems:

1. What is the Reading level before Catch-up Friday: _________

2. What is the Reading level after Catch-up


Friday?

3. Is there a significant difference between the level of reading comprehension of students


before and after the CUF?

Instruments

1. Reading level before Catch-up Friday

2. Reading level after Catch-up Friday

3. Check the different activities you have experienced in CUF:


Here are some different reading activities that can be incorporated into Catch Up Fridays:

Pre-Reading Activities
- Singing songs or chants related to the story or poem
- Predicting the text
- Playing games
- Using flash cards to highlight words or syllables
- Picture-word association
- Word classification game
- Repeating after me
- Picture reading
- Listening to an audio recording or watching a video about the story or poem

During Reading Activities


- Role play
- Previewing the text
- Predicting what shall happen next
- Identifying the main idea and supporting details
- Making connections
- Asking questions
- Sounding out words
- Picture association
- Reading aloud
- Talking pictures
- Choral Reading
- Take turns story reading
- Extending the story
- Independent reading

Post-Reading Activities
- Solving puzzles
- Molding clay to recreate characters or scenes from the text
- Crafting artworks
- Writing a diary or journal
- Identifying the favorite part of the story:
