E. Differentiate between the following.


1. Worksheet: Excel allows us to organize data in rows and columns.
These rows and columns are collectively called a worksheet.
Workbook: A spreadsheet file is called workbook which is like a
notebook having many individual worksheets.
2. Column Heading: A column heading is the coloured row of leeters
used to identify each column within the sheet.
Row Heading: A row number on the left side of the grid is called
row heading, it identifies each row.

3. Undo feature: It is used to cancel the last change we made done in
our worksheet.
Redo feature: It is used to reverse the result of the undo feature.
4. Moving data allows us to re-organize data in our worksheet. When
we move data, the data disappears from its original location.
Copying data allows us to repeat data in our worksheet without
having to retype the data. When we copy data, the data appears in
both the original and the new locations.

F. Answer in 1-2 sentences.


1. Microsoft Excel is a powerful spreadsheet program that allows us to
organize data, complete calculations, represent data in graphs and
develop reports. Excel allows us to organize data in rows and
columns.
2. The width of the column and row heights adjusted far
accommodating the data properly. It is useful if the data displayed in
the cell is too broad to be completely views within the standard
column.
3. The default column width of a cell is 8.43 (measured in characters)
and the default row height is 15.00 (measured in points).
4. Borders are used in worksheet cells to separate the data from
surrounding cells.

G. Answer Briefly.
1. There are various features of Excel such as:
i. Editing and formatting data
ii. Using Formulas and Functions
iii. Printing worksheets
iv. Creating charts and objects.
2. Formatting displays the worksheets in an attractive and more legible
outlook. We can make our worksheets more presentable by applying
one or several of Excel formatting features. Formatting improves the
appearance of our worksheet data by changing the font and size of
the data, adding color and shading, and giving our worksheets a
more professional and polished look.
3. Alignment means the way in which the data is settled within the
boundary of a cell. By default, Excel automatically aligns text data to

the left and number data to the right. Data is also aligned vertically
to settle at the bottom of the cell. The different alignment buttons
are: Align Left, Center, Align Right, Top Align, Middle Align, and
Bottom Align
4. Conditional Formatting feature of Excel allows us to apply certain
formatting options such as background color, borders, or font
formatting to data that meets certain conditions. Conditional
formatting is applied to one or more cells; when the data in those
cells meets the condition or conditions specified, the chosen formats
are applied.

H. Application Based Question.


To add a row in the table without disturbing the whole table, we can use
the insert sheet rows option for adding a row.

1. A formula is a statement written by the user to be calculated. It
contains values or references to cells. All formulas must start by
putting an equal to sign.
A function is a predefined formula in Excel. It is a piece of code
designed to calculate specific values and is used inside formulas.
Equal to sign (=) is automatically included into Excel when you apply
Function.
2. Absolute Referencing: A formula using the absolute cell reference
$C$5 instructs Excel to keep the cell reference C5 constant in the
formula as it copies it to the destination area.
Relative Referencing: A formula using the relative cell reference
instructs Excel to adjust the cell reference as it copies it to the
destination area.
E. Answer in 1-2 sentences.
1. Every cell in a worksheet has a unique address called cell reference.
By default, cells are identified by a specific column letter and row
number. For example : C5
2. An operator specifies the type of calculation we want to perform.
The various types of operators are: Arithmetic Operators,
Comparison Operators, Reference Operators, and Logical Operators.

3. Payment (PMT) function is used to calculate the payment for a loan
based on constant payments and a constant interest rate.
4. Goal Seek feature is used to show how we can reach our goal by
adjusting one of the loan terms such as interest rate or loan
amount.

F. Answer Briefly.
1. Function in Excel always begins with an equal to (=) sign, followed
by the Function name. Function name is followed by opening
parenthesis then arguments separated by comma or colon and then
closing parenthesis.

2. Conditional sum is used to identify the sum of particular numbers in


a field if the conditions applied to them are fulfilled. For this, we
use SUMIF function. SUMIF() takes three arguments: a range of
numbers, the condition being applied to the numbers, and range to
which the condition applies. Values that meet the condition are
added together, and the result appears in the cell with the formula.
3. A cell reference with only one dollar sign ($) before either the
column or the row is called a mixed cell reference. It can be either
C$5 or $C5. When it shows C$5, the column reference changes when
we copy this cell to another column. When it shows $C5, the column
reference does not change. In the above example of mixed cell
reference, column letter will remain constant in first reference, and
row number will remain constant in second reference.

G. Answer Briefly.
1. The term ‘wireless’ is normally used to refer to any type of electrical
or electronic operation which is accomplished without the use of a
"hard wired" connection. Wireless communication is the transfer of
information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors
or "wires". We can use a wireless modem to access information on
the Internet without using a phone line or other physical connection.
2. It is a service on the Internet that enables us to connect with
people, who share similar personal or professional interests. The
main purpose of using social networking sites is to keep track of
what is going on in the lives of friends, family and colleagues,
especially the people whom we do not meet regularly. Facebook is
one such popular social networking site.
3. A search engine is a software program which helps in finding
websites, web pages, and Internet files. Search engines require that
we enter a word or phrase, called search text, that describes the
item we want to find. Search engines use a program, called spider,
to display a list of all web pages that contain the word or phrase we
entered. The spider reads pages on websites in order to create a list
or index of hits.
