FIRE FIGHTING STAIRCASE
- For Residential below 30m staircase width 1000mm clear
or 1500mm if above 30m
- Handrail top 1000mm, min. tread without nosing 250mm,
max riser height 190mm
- No. of risers max. 15 per flight
- No Winders, No Well type, No staircase around lift
- No door should reduce landing width less than 900mm
- Min. clear headroom 2400mm
- It must have at least one external wall
h) Fire fighter’s Lift should have alternate source
of electrical supply (may be from DG Set)
i) It should not go to the basement
- Refuge area of min. 15 Sqm or 0.3 Sqm per person to
accommodate occupants (considering 12 Sqm per person)
between refuge floors (whichever is higher)
- No walls but railing of 1.1m height
- Must have access from common lobby
- No toilet or any other services
Electrical duct, Fire Fighting duct & low Voltage duct
to be provided.
