Chapter 1 thesis
Chapter 1 thesis
The background information provides sufficient content to the reader so they can
understand the purpose of the experiment, the design and the interpretation of the
results. The writer must research the background information and properly site all
sources used. A brief summary of the purpose and the experimental deign should be
included at the end.
provides a general overview of the topic of study in the first paragraph to introduce the main
idea(s)
includes clear, focused, accurate and detailed information to understand the science
investigated during the study in the middle paragraph(s)
provides cited support from external resources
previews the experiment in the last paragraph by summarizing the purpose and method for
data collection.
Your introduction must be consisting of 1-2 pages only.
Remember not to use “I, our, we" use “The experiment", not “My experiment"!!!!
The statement of the problem is the focal point of your research. It is just one sentence (with
several paragraphs of elaboration).
The problem must reflect to your title or the readers must know your problem by just simply
reading your topic. The problem must not answerable by yes or no and must be arranged in the
flow of your documentation or study.
The objective of your study it will mainly focus on the question “Why do you proposed that study?” or
the result that you want to achieve in that study. There are two kinds of the objectives of the study the
general objectives which is the general objective of your study why do you propose them. And the
specific study which will tackle the small objective in your study.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This section creates a perspective for looking at the problem. It points out how your study
relates to the larger issues and uses a persuasive rationale to justify the reason for your study. It
makes the purpose worth pursuing. The significance of the study answers the questions:
Your study should have a value not only to yourself but also to the management of your
company, the community wherein you live, the respondents themselves, furthermore, it should
have an impact on your field of specialization and you should mention the sectors that will be
benefited by your studies.
The importance of the whole study must contain explanation of discussions of any of the
following:
The Scope and Limitation includes the specific variables of study, the locate of the study, the
samples, the respondents and weaknesses of the study which are beyond the control of the
researcher.
It is also the important section of a thesis which includes: coverage of the study, area, the
subject, the research instruments, the research issues and concerns, the duration of the study
and the constraints that have direct bearing on the result of the study.
The scope of the study defines where and when the study is conducted and who the subjects
are.
Limitation of the study: is a phase or aspect of the investigation which may affect the result
adversely but over which you have no control. It includes the weaknesses of the study beyond
the control of the researcher.
A review of related literature is an integral part of Thesis. The main purpose of a Review of
Related Literature is to analyze scientific works by other researchers that you used for
investigation critically.
The Review of Literature showcases previous studies and publications relevant to the project.
This chapter gives lights as to what motivated the proponent/s in pursuing the specific field of
study.
A. Include a combination of literature and studies within the last 10 years only.
This section sets out the mechanisms of conducting your research, the sort of data needed to
answer your research questions and the details of how this is to be achieved in practice. State
clearly how you plan to conduct your research. What methodology are you using? Why? What
information needs to be gathered? Will this data be applicable to the research questions? Who
or what will you use as the data source? How will you collect data or construct experiments?
What
controls are in place? How will the data be analyzed? Do you need ethics approval?
It is important to know what sort of resources you will need, how available they are and the
costs
involved. You may need to attach a proposed budget. You will also need to indicate how long
each stage of the project will take.
