Project Report: Creating a 3D Drone Model
in AutoCAD
Student Name: Basit Ali
Section: BEE-60-B
Introduction
Drones, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), have gained significant popularity
for a range of applications, such as aerial photography, surveillance, and mapping.
In this project, we will delve into designing a 3D model of a drone using
AutoCAD, a robust computer-aided design software.
Commands Used
We will utilize several AutoCAD commands to create our drone model:
1. Offset:
- We'll use the Offset command to create parallel lines and shapes that form the
structure of the drone's body and arms.
2. Loft:
- We'll use the Loft command to create smooth transitions between different
shapes, helping to form the aerodynamic contours of the drone.
3. Extrude:
- We'll use the Extrude command to transform 2D profiles into 3D shapes,
forming the main body and components of the drone.
4. Box:
- We'll use the Box command to create rectangular 3D shapes, which will serve
as the base for various components of the drone, such as the landing gear and
camera mount.
5. Press Pull:
- We'll use the Press Pull command to dynamically create 3D solids by pressing
or pulling on the faces of objects.
6. Subtract:
- We'll use the Subtract command to remove material from 3D solids, allowing
us to create detailed and intricate designs for the drone's components.

Conclusion
In this project, we effectively designed a 3D model of a drone using AutoCAD. By
utilizing the specified commands, we crafted a detailed representation of the
drone's structure. The skills acquired in this process can be applied to more
complex designs and various other engineering projects.
Future Applications
The applications of drone 3D modeling are extensive:
