RE: APPOINTMENT AS AN INVIGILATOR FOR YEAR 2024 KCSE FOR THE KENYA NATIONAL
EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL
1.0 The Kenya National Examinations Council has appointed you to invigilate the 2024 Examinations at ST COLUMBAN'S
SECONDARY SCHOOL examination centre from 18th October 2024 to 22nd November 2024 . You will be reimbursed
travel expenses of Kshs 510 /= per day inclusive of the rehearsal day.However payment will be based on days worked (only
when the examinations are being administered).
2.0 It is important to note that, KCSE Supervisors must be teaching in secondary school and no Supervisor is allowed to
be deployed in a centre that they have worked in for last Two (2) consecutive years. The Cp2 system has been
configured to block their deployment.
2.0 It is important to note that, according to KNEC policy, KCSE Invigilators must be teaching in secondary schools. In addition, no
invigilator is deployed in a centre that they have served for the last Two (2) consecutive years. The Cp2 system has been
configured to block their deployment.
3.0 To enable your deployment, you must register into Contracted Professionals (CP2) system that is accessible through the
following link: http://cp2.knec.ac.ke. In the instance where you cannot remember your password, first dial *456*9*5*5*1, then reset
the password.
4.0 As an invigilator you are responsible to the TSC Sub County Director. The Council expects you to conduct the examination
according to KNEC regulations and adhere to the following:-
4.1 Reporting to the assigned examination centre on 18th October, 2024 for briefing, rehearsal and assignment of duties by
the supervisor;
4.2 Reporting to the examination centre by 7.00am in the morning on every day of the examination to receive the examination
materials from the Supervisor in the presence of the Security Officers;
4.3 Inspecting the examination room, the candidates’ desks or tables and the washrooms to be used every day before the
examination starts to ensure that there are no unauthorized or stimulus materials;
4.4 Closely monitoring candidates inside and outside the examination room and ensuring that they are escorted to the
washrooms and are searched before re-entering the room;
4.5 Searching candidates each time they enter the assessment room to prevent smuggling in of unauthorized and stimulus
materials including mobile phones or any other electronic communication devices. In this regard, female candidates must
be searched by a female supervisor or invigilator or teacher and male candidates by male supervisors or invigilators or
teachers;
4.6 Receiving the question papers from the supervisor, checking to ensure that the paper is correct as per the timetable, and
confirm that the total number conforms with the attendance register;
4.7 Ensuring that every candidate is issued with a question paper bearing their names and index numbers and that they
append their signature and the date of the examination on the question paper and the perforated portion (counterfoil) of
the question paper;
4.8 Ensuring that the examination starts promptly and lasts for the time scheduled on the examination timetable and hand over
to the supervisor any question paper for the absent candidate(s) and those with errors or blank pages;
4.9 Ensuring that no unauthorized persons have access to question papers or candidates while the examination is in
progress;
4.10 Identifying the candidates against the photograph register as appropriate, verifying the candidates’ index numbers, names
and ensure that the Script Control Form is signed by all candidates before the end of the examination session;
4.11 Being vigilant to ensure that candidates do not engage in any kind of examination malpractice and in case of any, report to
the supervisor;
4.12 Ensuring candidates write their answers in the writing materials prescribed by the Council and append their signature on
the space provided;
4.13 Not explaining the questions to the candidates, aiding, reading or allowing any person to read candidates’ responses;
4.14 Marking ‘AB’ against the name of every candidate who is absent every session of the examination, account for every
candidate using the attendance register and ensuring that there is no discrepancy between the record of absenteeism on
the attendance register and the Script Control Form;
4.15 Taking note of the absent candidates’ index numbers and paper missed to be transferred to the computer printed
attendance sheet, online capture and the Script Control Form and Certificate of Supervision;
4.16 At the end of the examination session, supervise the candidates as they carefully detach the counterfoil (upper part)
containing the candidate’s personal details from the answer script without tampering on any written details;
4.17 Collecting and physically counting the candidates’ answer scripts and the detached counterfoils to ensure they both tally
with number of candidates who sat before releasing the candidates from the examination room and handing them over to
the supervisor for recording, packing, and sealing in the separate provided return envelopes;
4.18 Signing the declaration form in the Report and Certificate of Supervision;
4.19 Surrendering your mobile phone(s) and any other electronic communication devices in your possession to be placed in a
lockable desk which will be outside the examination room in full view of the security officer throughout the session. The key
of the desk will be kept by the supervisor. The mobile phones must be on silent mode;
4.20.1 Be held personally liable for any examination irregularity which you failed to report during the conduct of the
examinations within the examination room you are allocated and its environs;
4.20.2 Ensure that the examination is conducted as per the Act, other relevant Written Law, these Council Rules,
Regulations, and Guidelines;
4.20.3 Ensuring your online attendance is taken every day by the centre manager and at the end of the examination
period, sign against your name on the downloaded and printed copy of the same. This will be submitted to KNEC as proof
of your presence in the centre and of work done. The attendance register will be used during the processing of payment
claims.
