Apartment Building Safety

Fire Safety

• Do not leave cooking unattended. Should you need to leave your suite
for any reason, please turn off all cooking appliances and remove from
elements.
• Do not throw cigarette butts off the balcony or out the window. Please use
an appropriate ashtray for outside use.
• Please empty the lint screens inside the dryer after every use. Excessive
lint poses a fire hazard.
• Ensure you know where your circuit breaker or fuse box is located. Do
not overload the circuits, this can cause damage to the appliances, cause
your lights to go out, and could pose a fire risk.
• In the event of a fire, know where the designated exits are.

In Your Suite

• Liquid dish soap (ex. Dawn) for the sink MUST NOT be used in the
dishwasher as it will cause a flood.
• Prevent a flood by turning off running water when leaving the sink/tub.
• Do not throw food, cat litter, or cooking oil down the sink or toilet. This will
clog pipes and cause the pipes to back up and flood. Dispose of these
items correctly.
• Do not use the countertop as a cutting board. Please use an appropriate
cutting board to prevent damaging the countertops.

Tenant Insurance Requirements

The Tenancy Agreement between the Landlord and the Tenant requires that
the Tenant have a valid and existing policy of insurance for various coverages
including liability, property damage, and additional living expenses in
accordance with a standard Tenant’s policy of insurance.

Please provide the office with a current copy of your tenant insurance for our
files.
