IOT BASED ELECTRICAL DEVICE SURVEILLANCE AND CONTROL

SYSTEM

SYNOPSIS:

The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) with electrical systems has opened new
avenues for efficient monitoring and control of electrical appliances. This project, titled "IoT-
Based Electrical Device Surveillance and Control System using Arduino and IoT," focuses on
developing a sophisticated system to monitor the voltage and current of electrical devices and
ensure their safe operation. The system is designed to automatically cut off power to appliances
if the monitored voltage or current exceeds predefined limits, thereby preventing potential
damage and hazards.

The core of the system is an Arduino microcontroller, which interfaces with various
sensors to measure real-time electrical parameters such as voltage and current. These
measurements are transmitted to an IoT platform using Wi-Fi modules, allowing for remote
monitoring and control through a user-friendly interface accessible on smartphones or
computers. The system includes a relay module that disconnects the power supply to the
appliances when unsafe voltage or current levels are detected, ensuring the protection of both the
devices and the users.

abnormal voltage or current levels are detected, reducing the risk of electrical fires and
equipment damage.

2. Remote Monitoring and Control: Users can monitor and control their electrical devices
from anywhere using a smartphone or computer, providing convenience and peace of mind.

3. Energy Efficiency: By continuously monitoring electrical parameters, the system helps

in identifying and eliminating energy wastage, leading to cost savings.

4. Scalability: The system can be easily scaled to monitor and control multiple devices,
making it suitable for both residential and industrial applications.

5. User-Friendly Interface: The IoT platform provides a simple and intuitive interface for
real-time monitoring and control, making it accessible to users with varying levels of technical
expertise.

Applications

1. Residential Automation: Ensuring the safe operation of home appliances by monitoring

and controlling them remotely.
2. Industrial Automation: Protecting industrial equipment from electrical faults by
monitoring voltage and current levels and automatically disconnecting power in case of
anomalies.

3. Energy Management: Enhancing energy efficiency by identifying and mitigating

energy wastage in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

4. Smart Grids: Integrating with smart grid systems to provide real-time data on electrical
parameters, contributing to more efficient and reliable power distribution.
