Location: Hybrid working, home & BCA Coimbra (monthly visits)

Role Overview:
As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for leading the development of high-
quality mobile applications using .NET, iOS, and Android. You will lead a team of .NET
software engineers and work closely with Product, Engineering and Design teams to
create innovative app solutions that meet our customers’ needs.

Role Responsibilities:

 Leading a team of app engineers designing, developing, and maintaining user-


centric apps, primarily leveraging .NET, Xcode and Android SDK.
 Ensuring continuous delivery of value to users through efficient development
practices and well-coordinated releases.
 Collaborating closely with Design and Product teams to implement visually
compelling and intuitive interfaces.
 Aligning the team's work with the product vision and strategic goals, fostering a
culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
 Handling line management duties, including hiring, training, and performance
evaluations by setting clear goals and expectations.
 Driving improvements of engineering practices within the team to enhance
efficiency, code quality, and user experience. Ensure code quality and
maintainability by conducting code reviews, writing tests, and documenting
work.
 Staying abreast of the latest app development trends and best practices and
providing technical leadership to the team.

Knowledge & Experience:

 7+ years of experience in front-end/app development, with 2+ years with .NET


and its ecosystem including native tooling for iOS and Android.
 Hands on experience on all areas of the software lifecycle: design,
implementation, testing, store submission, and maintenance and upgrades.
 Familiarity with App Metrics.
 Experience with automated testing suites such as Appium, Cypress or Test Cafe
and understanding of TDD/BDD concepts.
 Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and third-party libraries integration.
 Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases, understanding
their advantages and appropriate use cases.
 Proficiency in Azure or AWS cloud services and familiarisation with IaC tooling
for managing cloud infrastructure.
 Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices, such as Scrum
or Kanban.
 Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex issues and
develop innovative solutions.
 Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with various
stakeholders and to communicate technical information clearly.
 Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field or
equivalent work experience.

Skills:

 Proficiency in .NET: Expert knowledge building mobile applications using .NET is


essential.
 Extensive experience in iOS app development using Xcode
 Strong knowledge of Android app development using Android SDK
 Experience with Testing Frameworks and Methodologies: Familiarity with testing
libraries and frameworks (like Appium, SpecFlow, NUnit, etc.), and understanding
of Test-Driven Development (TDD) / Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
concepts.

Relationships:

 App Engineers: Leading and collaborating with a team of .NET engineers to build
user-friendly, high-performance apps.
 UX/UI Designers: Partnering closely with UX/UI designers to ensure
implemented interfaces match designs and provide an optimal user experience.
 Product Owners: Working closely with product owners to align the team's work
with product vision and strategic goals.
 Heads of Product: Coordinating with heads of product to ensure the
development efforts align with their expectations and contribute to the overall
product strategy.
 Engineering Management: Collaborating with engineering management to
facilitate efficient organisational communication and collaboration and drive
continuous improvement of engineering practices.
 Contributing to the hybrid work culture, balancing remote and in-office work
while fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
