III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

A. Preparation

1. Prayer

Everyone, please stand. Moira, kindly

lead the prayer. (students praying)

2. Greetings

Good morning class. Good morning, Ma’am!

Before you take your seats, kindly pick

up the pieces of paper/trash under your
chairs and check their alignment. (students do as told)

Thank you, you may now take your

seats. How are you this morning, class? We are fine, Ma’am

Good to hear that!

3. Checking of Attendance

Ms. Secretary, is anyone absent from the

class today? None, Ma’am

Wow, very good! Give yourselves a

round of applause. (giving claps)

4. Classroom Agreements

For us to have an effective interaction, let

me remind you of the rules that you should
follow.

If you want to speak or stand, what will

you do? Yes, James. Raise the hand.

Okay, very good! What if someone is

talking, Jean? Listen, Ma’am.

Exactly! How about when we are having a

class discussion, Fatima? Participate actively, Ma’am.

Very well said! What will you do when

you will have your group activity? Cooperate, Ma’am.

Can I expect that from you, class? Yes, Ma’am!

Perfect.

5. Review

Let us have a review first on our last

lesson, about the parts of the computer.

What are the parts of the computer? Motherboard, ma’am.

(answer may vary)
That’s right. Now let us proceed to our
new lesson

B. Motivation

ACTIVITY 1: GUESS IT!

I have here a devices in a computer

(showing them a keyboard, USB and mouse)

What have do you call this devices?
(showing keyboard)
That is called a Keyboard ma’am.
Very good, Jose.

How about this one? (showing USB)

That is a USB, ma’am.
That’s right.

This one? (showing mouse)

That is a mouse, ma’am.
Correct.

All the these devices are called

computer peripheral devices and that is our
lesson for today. A peripheral device is an
internal or external device that connects
directly to a computer or other digital
device but does not contribute to the
computer's primary function, such as
computing. That helps the end users access
and use the functionalities of a computer.

There are 3 types of peripherals: input,

output, and input/output (storage) devices.

C. Presentation

Before we proceed to our discussion,

let me present to you the objectives that you
should attain at the end of the discussion.

(Propel Integration)
a. Define the function of the computer
peripheral devices,
b. Identify the computer peripherals devices,
c. Appreciate the importance of peripherals
Joy, please read the first objective. devices in our daily life.

Thank you, Joy.

You are welcome, ma’am.
Sarrah, please read the second objective.

Thank you, Sarrah.

You are welcome, ma’am.
Tim, please read the third objective.
Thank you, Tim.
You are welcome, ma’am.
D. Discussion

ACTIVITY 2: NAME IT!

I will group you into 2.

Each group will be given a same picture.

I have here a manila paper, in here I want
you to identify the figure by pasting to its
corresponding functions and then name the
picture. Post your answers on the board.
The first group to finish and make a report
will be given a reward. I will give you 3
minutes to do the activity.
Now let us check your answers
Okay ma’am
What is this?

Monitor, ma’am

That is right.

Who can read the function of a monitor?

(Propel Integration) A monitor is one of the most important
output devices. It receives output from the
processing unit and displays that output.

Thank, you. The output displayed on the

monitor is temporary. Because of that, the
output displayed on the monitor is called the
soft copy of the output.

What do you call this?

Keyboard, Ma’am.

That is right. Read the function of the

keyboard.
A keyboard is the most common and
important input device. It allows the user to

keyboard, the keyboard sends a unique
signal to the computer. The processing unit
of the computer receives the signal and
translates the signal to know which key is
pressed.
This one?

Mouse, ma’am.

Perfect. Read the function of the mouse.

A mouse is another important input device. It
uses point-and-click technology to interact
with the system.
Thank you. Most mice have two buttons and
a scroll wheel between them.

What do you call this peripheral?

Printer, ma’am.

Excellent. Read the function of the printer.

A printer is another important output device.

It prints the given output.
Thank you. After printing, the output is
permanently stored on the paper. Because of
that, the output printed on the paper is
called the hard copy of the output.

This one what do you call this one?

Scanner, ma’am.

You are right. Read the function of the

scanner.

A scanner is another popular input device. It

documents from hard copy to soft copy.

What do you this peripheral?

Webcam, ma’am.

Very good. Read the function of the

webcam.
A webcam is a popular input device. It
captures live videos and photos.
Thank you. Usually, it is inbuilt on laptops
and tablets. Mostly, it is used for video calls
and live presentations.

How about this one?

Speaker, ma’am.

Very good. Read the function of the

speaker.
A speaker is a popular output device. It plays
the audio output signals.

Thank you. Laptops and tablets have inbuilt

speakers. On desktop computers, they can
be attached via ports.

What do you call this?

Hard disk, ma’am.

Correct. Read the function of the hard disk. A hard disk is the most important
input/output device. It provides both input
and output functionalities.
Thank you. When a computer reads data
from the hard disk, the hard disk provides
input functionality. When the computer
stores data on the hard disk, the hard disk
provides output functionality.

What do you call this peripherals?

Universal Serial Bus (USB)

Perfect. Read the function of the USB. USB drives are another popular input/output
device. They are compact and small. They are
mostly used to transfer data between
computers that are not connected.
Thank you. The USB use to transfer data.
When you transfer data from a computer to
the USB drive, the USB drive provides
output functionality. When you transfer data
from a USB drive to the computer, the USB
drive provides input functionality.

What do you call this peripheral?

Network Interface Card (NIC)

That is right. Read the function of the

Network interface card. A NIC is an input/output device. A computer
uses a NIC to connect the network.

Than you. When the computer sends data to

the network, it uses the output function of
the NIC. When the computer receives data
from the network, it uses the input function
of the NIC.

Who among the group got the correct (answer may vary)
answers?

Fabulous. Give a perfect clap for a job (students do as told)

well done?

All the mention devices are called

computer peripheral devices.

A peripheral device is a device that either

enters information into a computer system
or receives information from the computer
system.

A computer system can function

without peripheral devices but it cannot
function without core components.
Examples of core components are CPU,
motherboard, power supply, RAM, and
ROM.
None, ma’am.
Do you any questions?

Great. Now let us have another activity.

E. Application

Before we proceed, we have rubrics

that will be basis of the performance of your
group.

real life.

Group 2. Create a jingle song about the

computer peripheral devices.

I will give you 5 minutes to do the activity.

Your time starts now.

Give a mosquito clap for the overall
performance of the second group. Fine and interesting, ma’am.

How did you find all the activity?

Good to hear that. Give yourselves a (students do as told)

How do you appreciate the importance The answer may vary.

of computer peripherals in our daily life?

The importance of peripherals is to

extend and enhance what a computer is
capable of doing without modifying the core
components of the system. A printer is a
good example of a peripheral. It is
connected to a computer, extends its
functionality, but is not actually part of the
core.

Excellent. None, ma’am.

Any questions? Clarifications?

Very good.
