lesson

(Show PowerPoint presentation)

Actually, tools and equipment are classified

into three.

The measuring tools

The baking utensils and
The mixing, blending, cutting tools

So let’s start with

Liquid measuring Cup

A liquid measuring cup is
a kitchen tool designed
specifically for measuring
the volume of liquid
ingredients, such as
water, milk, oil, or broth.
It usually has a spout for easy pouring and
markings on the side indicating different
measurements, such as milliliters, fluid
ounces, and cups. Liquid measuring cups
are typically made of transparent materials
like glass or plastic, making it easy to see the
level of the liquid being measured.
Have you seen a liquid measuring cup? Yes, Sir

Okay good. So what is the use of liquid Sir, liquid measuring cup Used to measure

Next, we have

Dry Measuring cup

A dry measuring cup is
a kitchen tool used to
measure the volume of
dry ingredients, such
as flour, sugar, oats,
and baking powder.
Unlike liquid measuring
cups, dry measuring cups are designed to be
filled to the brim and leveled off with a flat
edge to ensure precise measurement. They
typically come in a set of multiple sizes, such
as 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, and 1/4 cup.

We commonly use this to measure vanilla, yeast,

baking power in a small amount.

Next, we have the

Baking utensils
Baking utensils are tools used to aid in the
preparation and baking of various goods. Here
are some common baking utensils and their
uses:

Whisk: Used for mixing

ingredients together,
especially for incorporating
air into mixtures like
whipped cream or egg whites.

Spatula: Used for

scraping, spreading,
and folding ingredients.

Mixing Bowls: Used for

combining ingredients.
They come in various
sizes and materials like
glass, metal, and plastic.

Measuring Cups and Spoons:

Used for accurately measuring
ingredients, both dry and liquid.
Rolling Pin: Used for
rolling out dough to an
even thickness.

Pastry Brush: Used for

applying glazes, egg
washes, or butter to
dough or pastries.

Baking Sheets: Flat,

rectangular pans
used for baking
cookies, pastries, and
other baked goods.

Cooling Rack: Used for

cooling baked goods
evenly, preventing them
from becoming soggy
on the bottom.

Sifter: Used for

sifting flour or other
dry ingredients to
remove lumps and

shapes for cookies and
other baked goods.

heavy-duty versions of
baking sheets, used for
baking large quantities
of cookies, pastries, or

making it easier to
release delicate tarts
and quiches.

They often come with a rack
to elevate the food for even
cooking.
Next we have the

Oven
Oven is a kitchen appliance used for baking,
roasting, and heating food. It works by
surrounding the food with hot air, which cooks
it evenly. Here are some key types and features
of ovens:

Types of Ovens:

Conventional Ovens
Gas Oven: Uses natural gas
or propane as a fuel source.
It heats up quickly and is
often preferred for its ability
to provide moist heat.

Electric Oven: Uses electric

heating elements. It offers
even heating and precise
temperature control.

Convection Ovens:
Equipped with a fan and
exhaust system that
circulate hot air around
the food. This results in
faster cooking times and
more even browning.
Can be either gas or electric.

Toaster Ovens:
Smaller countertop
ovens used for toasting,
baking small quantities,
or reheating food.
They are portable and
convenient for small spaces or quick meals.

Use microwave
radiation to heat
and cook food quickly.
Best for reheating and
simple cooking tasks.

Combination Ovens:
Combine features of
conventional and
convection ovens, and
sometimes microwave functionality.

Next is the

Electric mixer

mix, beat, and whip ingredients quickly and
efficiently. It is a versatile tool that can handle a
variety of tasks, from mixing cake batter to
whipping cream and kneading dough. There are
two main types of electric mixers:
1. Hand Mixer

beaters that you hold
in your hand. Ideal for
light to medium mixing
tasks, such as beating
eggs, mixing cake batter,
and whipping cream.

2. Stand Mixer
A larger, stationary
mixer with a powerful
motor and a mixing
bowl that attaches
to the base. It often
comes with multiple
attachments, such as
a whisk, paddle, and
dough hook.

Now let’s go to

Grater
A grater is a kitchen tool
used to shred or grate foods
into fine pieces. It typically
consists of a flat or curved
surface with sharp-edged
holes or blades.

or pastry scraper, is a
versatile kitchen tool
used primarily in baking
and pastry making.

Lastly, is the

Wooden spoon
A wooden spoon is a
versatile kitchen utensil
made from wood, used for
stirring, mixing, and
