• An embodied spirit. S/he is not just a body,
neither just a spirit. (What happens to the
body happens also to the spirit. Likewise
what happens to the spirit affects the body)
• Equipped with the COGNITIVE (process of
knowing) and APPETITIVE FACULTIES
(feelings, emotions & will).
The Learners are unique so
they differ in the ff. elements
• ABILITY – capacity to understand &
assimilate information. (fast, average,
slow)... Mental ability (superior, average,
below average).
• APTITUDE – refers to students’ innate
talent or gift. (special inclination for the
arts)
• INTEREST
• FAMILY & CULTURAL

• ATTITUDES – refers to an individual’s


perspective and disposition.
– Curiosity
– Responsibility
– Creativity

The Teacher
• The professional teacher is the “licensed
professional who possesses DIGNITY and
REPUTATION with HIGH MORAL
VALUE as well as TECHNICAL and
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE... s/he
adheres to observes and practice a set of
ethical and moral principles, standards
and values. – (Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers, 1997)
To facilitate learning,
Teacher must:
• Be expert in her/his subject and skilled in
the science and art of teaching.
• Have a pleasing personality and a
MODEL OF VALUES.
• Have passion for teaching, sense of
humor, patience and enthusiasm.
The Learning Environment
• The place where teaching and learning can
take place in the most effective and
productive manner.
• Consists of the PHYSICAL, as well as the
PSYCHOLOGICAL environment, that
surrounds the learner and that influences
his/her learning.
The Physical Features of the
Classroom includes the ff.:
• Space
• Location
• Lighting
• Ventilation
• Order
• Tidiness
• Noise level

According to PINE and HORNE
• Which encourage people to be active.
• Which promotes and facilitates the
individual’s discovery of the personal
meaning of idea.
• Which emphasizes the uniquely personal
and subjective nature of learning.
• In which difference is good and desirable.
• Which consistently recognizes people’s
right to make mistakes.
Learning Environment
According to PINE and HORNE

• Which tolerates ambiguity.


• In which evaluation is a cooperative
process with emphasis on self-evaluation.
• Which encourage openness of self rather
than concealment of self.
• In which people are encouraged to trust in
themselves as well as in external source.

meaning and relevance of ideas.
• Learning (behavioral change) is a
consequence of experience.
• Learning is cooperative and collaboration
process.

• Learning is evolutionary process.
• Learning is sometimes a painful process.
• One of the richest resources for learning is
the learner himself.
• The process of learning is emotional as
well as intellectual.
• The process of problem solving and
learning are highly unique and individual.
