The purpose of the analysis was to identify patterns, trends, and insights that could help
improve sales strategies, optimize inventory, and enhance overall business performance.
---
I started by using Pivot Tables to summarize and analyze the data. Pivot Tables are one of
Excel’s most powerful tools for quickly summarizing large datasets.
---
---
I then used regression analysis to predict **total sales** based on independent variables like
**discounts** and **quantity sold**.
- **Methodology:**
I used Excel’s Data Analysis Toolpak to create a linear regression model. The dependent
variable was **total sales**, and the independent variables were **discounts** and **quantity
sold**.
- **Results:**
The regression analysis showed that **quantity sold** was a significant predictor of total
sales, with a p-value less than **0.05**. The R Square value of **0.424** indicated that
quantity sold explained **42.4%** of the variation in total sales. This information can help
businesses optimize pricing and inventory control strategies.
---
- **Bar Chart:**
I created a bar chart to display **total sales by product category**. This allowed for quick
comparisons across different product categories and helped identify which categories were
driving the most revenue.
- **Line Chart:**
A line chart was used to show **sales performance over time**, from **August to October**.
This helped identify trends in sales over the months and allowed for better forecasting.
- **Heat Map:**
Finally, I created a heat map to analyze the relationship between **discounts** and **total
sales** across different product categories. The heat map revealed patterns in pricing tactics
and highlighted areas where higher discounts led to lower total sales.
