Tiny scarf

Pattern by Kinga Kłodawska

Yarn, gauge, modifications:

This pattern can be made using any yarn weight, but I recommend fingering or DK yarn to obtain nice
pattern definition. Adjust needles size to the yarn weight.
One 50g skein of fingering yarn is enough for one tiny scarf. If using DK (or bulkier) yarn you will need
2 skeins (or more). Gauge is not important here. You can adjust the width of the scarf by adding
another ‘half braid’ on both sides (increasing number of stitches by 14 – to 51 stitches), or by adding
more purl stitches between “lacy braids”.

Abbreviations:
k knit
p purl
swyif slip with yarn in front
k2tog knit 2 stitches together
p2tog purl 2 stitches together
ssk slip slip knit
m1lk make 1 left leaning knit stitch
m1rk make 1 right leaning knit stitch
m1lp make 1 left leaning purl stitch
m1rp make 1 right leaning purl stitch
yo yarn over

Pattern instructions:

I am a combination knitter. If you are not you might have to swap k2tog and ssk to obtain nice
clean decrease lines. Check it on a sample before casting on the scarf.

Cast on 3 stitches using your preferred cast on method. Long tail cast on is fine here. Make 8 rows of
I-cord – repeat rows 1 and 2 8 times:
Row 1: k3
Row 2: swyif 3
Next: k3, pick up 7 stitches along the I-cord and 3 stitches from the starting edge (short edge). You
have 13 stitches on your needle. Proceed with the setup row:
Setup row (ws): swyif 3, k7, swyif 3

From now on you can use either the chart or written instructions.
