Introduction
The information in this document explains how to install the PowerScribe 360 Reporting client software.
Users who have an older version of PowerScribe 360 Reporting client software already installed will be upgraded
automatically when they run the new client installation. (See Install the Client Application below.)

Uninstall Required For PowerScribe 5.x/4.x Users

Users who are upgrading from PowerScribe 5.x or 4.x must uninstall that older client application before installing
the PowerScribe 360 Reporting client software.
Use the following steps to uninstall the old PowerScribe 5.x or 4.x client.
1. From the client workstation, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features (or Add Remove
Programs depending upon your version of Windows).
2. Uninstall the programs listed below (if they exist on the workstation) in the following order:
a. PowerScribe 5.0 Dictation Client or PowerScribe Workstation Client (4.x)
b. Dictaphone PowerScribe SDK Components
c. Dragon SDK Client Components
d. PacsBridge
3. On the workstation’s C:\ drive, delete the Dictaphone folder.
4. Open the folder called Program Files, right-click the Nuance folder and select Delete from the sub-menu to

3. The PowerScribe 360 | Reporting client natively supports 32bit operating systems, as well as 64bit operating
systems in 32bit emulation.
4. The installer of the PowerScribe 360 client software must use a Local Administrator account and UAC must
be off during installation. After installation, UAC can be re-enabled.
5. The client must be able to update the registry.
a. The following are the keys that the client must be able to access (Read and Write):
i. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nuance
ii. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Nuance
6. All users must have Full control permissions on the C:\ProgramData\Nuance Folder, as well all subfolders.
7. If using an XML desktop integration, all users must have full control of the specified directory (e.g. C:\Nuance).
8. Nuance PowerScribe 360 | Reporting Client can connect to different PowerScribe 360 | Reporting systems;
however, the systems that are being connected to MUST be at the exact same version, service pack, patch and
publication.
9. In order to view images from the PowerShare network, the client must have a browser installed that supports
Flash Player version 10 or greater. PowerShare uses the Client Outlook – eUnity Viewer to display images.
10. WebDAV communication is used to download and upload Dragon Naturally Speaking user profile.
Communication between the client and server requires port 80 or 443 only to support this communication
11. PS 360 v3.5.2 supports the following Windows 10 versions with the latest KB updates:
Version 1607 (OS build 14393) (Released 8/2/2016), Version 1511 (OS build 10586) (Released 11/10/2015)
12. Windows 10 known issues running PowerScribe 360 | Reporting Client
a. Edge Browser is not supported. Only IE 11.0
a. When starting the PS 360 client using the shortcut on the desktop, the Edge Browser will start up and will
not disappear or shut down, leaving a “Blank” browser page. To fix the issue, the site will need to change
the default browser to from “Edge” to “IE 11”.
Antivirus Exclusions
Ensure the proper antivirus exclusions are configured on each workstation. Disable the antivirus application before
installing the PowerScribe 360 Reporting software and re-enable it after a successful installation.
Nuance recommends that the most effective method for AV protection, while preventing the AV from interfering with
application operations, is to use process exclusions. Process exclusions in antivirus will ignore any file accessed from the
excluded process. This will help prevent latency while allowing the Anti-Virus to monitor file operations initiated by other
processes.
Heuristic / Proactive Threat Detection
Apply the same process exclusions as shown below to the Heuristic / Proactive Threat Detection applications. If you
do not, this function may see the Dragon and PS360 Application behaviors, such as converting audio files, as a
potential threat, and block access to the files.
Malware Detection
Apply the same process exclusions as shown below to the real-time malware detection applications. If you do not, this function
may see the Dragon and PS360 Application behaviors, such as converting audio files, as a potential threat, and block access to
the files.

Exclude the following processes on the workstations:

Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10
 Natspeak.exe
 Nuance.PowerScribe.exe
If your antivirus application is not capable of excluding processes, you should exclude the following
directories and file types. Be sure to apply the same exclusions to Heuristic and Malware functions within the
anti-virus application or additional applications.
Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10
Exclude the folders:
 C:\Nuance (PACS integration folders for XML integrations)
 C:\ProgramData\Nuance
 C:\Users\<Windows USER_ID>\AppData\Roaming\Nuance\Dragon SDK Client Edition12
 C:\Users\<Windows USER_ID>\AppData\Local\Nuance\PowerScribe360
 C:\Users\<Windows USER_ID>\AppData\Local\Temp
Exclude the following extensions
 BD, BIN, DAT, DRA, ENH, GRM, GRX, INI, NWV, SIG, SVC, USR, VER, XML, DICT, LOG, TXT,
WAV, ini_DGNRenamed, voc_DGNRenamed

The %TEMP% directory is used for the log-in process of Dragon SDK / PS360. If possible exclude
the directory from real-time AV scans for these extensions (tmp, bak).

When logging in, Dragon downloads the speech profile to the TEMP folder, then moves the
required files to the speech profile storage location. Not excluding this may cause latency during
log in and log out.
Rights
The person installing the PowerScribe 360 Reporting software must use a Local Administrator account and User
Account Control (UAC) must be off during installation. After installation, UAC can be re-enabled.

Daily Client Workstation Reboot

Reboot all client workstations on a daily basis. This is a recommendation by Nuance and Microsoft due to the large
amount of memory reads and writes that the applications and PACS systems perform. Rebooting allows the
operating system and applications to run optimally for best performance.

DVD Image Install/Upgrade Procedure

This installation method can be used for remote workstations that cannot easily download the Dragon Components
of the PowerScribe 360 Client software installation, due to internet bandwidth restrictions.
The DVD files are created during the installation of the system and are stored on the Application (IIS) server.
This method installs the Dragon components and the integration components, and places a shortcut on the desktop
for the application. When this shortcut is executed, the .Net components will be updated on the workstation and the
application will launch.

13 889800
Client Installation and Configuration

To install or upgrade the client software from the DVD image:

1. Download the DVD installation folder and burn to a DVD for distribution.
2. Place the DVD into the DVD drive on the workstation.
3. Browse to the DVD and double-click the setup.exe.
The rest of the steps are the same as in the standard installation.

You might find it easier to copy the DVD image directly from the application server to your
workstations over the network. The Data drive on the application server contains a copy of the DVD
image. The image is located in D:\Nuance\DVDImage. Copy the entire contents of the DVDImage
folder to the workstation and run the setup.exe file.

Guidelines for Creating an Automated Installation Package

This process is not supported by Nuance, and is the sole responsibility of the customer to configure
and maintain.

 The source files for the automated installation package are contained in the PowerScribe 360 Client DVD
installer package. This package is created by Field Service using the server application ClientAdmin
during the configuration of the PowerScribe Client Installer on the Application Server.
 The DVD installer is located in x:\Nuance\DVDImage, where x is the data drive of the Application
Server. (Normally this path is D:\Nuance\DVDImage.)
 The automated client installer will need to push all files from the DVD installer except the Dragon
installations that are not required. Most installations will use the DSC_Rad package for Radiology only
[DRAGON_INSTALL=1].
 The following is an example of the command line used for a silent install with the Radiology version of
Dragon NaturallySpeaking:
setup.exe /s/v" /qn+ ISSETUPDRIVEN=1 ALLUSERS=1 DRAGON_INSTALL=1"

There is a space character after the v" item in this command line.

installation.
2. From the root folder of the files you just copied, locate the file called PS360ReportingClientConfig.xml.
3. Open the file in Notepad and edit the last line as follows:
4. Replace the word TESTSERVER:
Location="http://TESTSERVER/PS360ReportingClient/Client/Nuance.PowerScribe360.application" /><!--
other options...--></configuration>
with the name of your production server:
Location="http://PRODUCTIONSERVERNAME/PS360ReportingClient/Client/
Nuance.PowerScribe360.application" /><!--other options...--></configuration>
5. Test the push on several workstations to make sure that it installs the client properly.
