1) If ten fair coins are tossed. What is the probability that there are exactly 3 heads?

4) The Probability of getting an item defective is 0.005 .What is the probability that exactly 3 items

Four Marks Examples


1) Solve the following system of equations by Jacobi-Iteration method. (Three iterations)
20x + y - 2z = 17, 3x + 20y – z = -18, 2x – 3y + 20z = 25.
2) Solve the equation by Gauss - Seidal method. (Three iterations only)
10x+y+2z=13, 3x+10y+z=14, 2x+3y+10z=15
03) Find the approximate value of Square root of 105 by using Bakhshali iterative method.

04) Using Newton - Raphson method find the approximate value of 100 (Perform 3 iterations)
05) Find approximate root of the equation x2 + x – 3 = 0 in (1, 2) by using False Position method.
(Use Three iterations)
06) Find a real root of the equation x loge x - 1.2 = 0 in the interval (2, 3) by using bisection method.
(Use Two iterations).
07) The probability that a bomb dropped from a plane will strike the target is 1/5,If six bombs are
dropped. Find the probability that,
1. Exactly two will strike the target. 2. At least two will strike the target.
08) In a sample of 1000 cases the mean of certain test is 14 and standard deviation is 2.5. Assuming
the distribution to be normal, find (1) How many students score above 18?
(2) How many students score between 12 and 15?
[Given: A (0.4) = 0.1554, A (0.8) = 0.2881, A (1.6) = 0.4452]

09. If 5% of the electric bulbs manufactured by a company are defective. Use Poisson's distribution
to find the probability that in a sample of 100 bulbs.
1) None is defective. 2) Five bulbs are defective. (Given e–5 = 0.007)
