LOGO DESIGNING ACTIVITY

Designing using Type Tool and Envelope Distort

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION
First step is to create a perfect circle. To create perfect proportioned circle, hold SHIFT key while drawing
your circle.

Pen Tool

Then select your PEN TOOL.

Draw divisions in your circle using pen tool. You can directly inflict curves using your pen tool or draw
straight lines just like the example. Click on one side of the circle then click on the opposite side again
before pressing ENTER key to end the pen tool line.

Anchor
Point Tool

Then, on your TOOL BAR, right click on the PEN TOOL and select the ANCHOR POINT TOOL.
Using the ANCHOR POINT TOOL, drag out curves from your lines. Make sure your are dragging on the
line itself.

You can add multiple curves on the line in all parts of the line.
Do the same on the 2nd line.

Direct
Selection
Tool

You can further edit the main point of your curves lines by using direct selection tool.
Another thing to take note of is, you have to make sure that your curve lines overlapped with the
perimeter of your circle. This is to make sure that, when we divide the objects, all the parts of the circle
will be sliced.

After you are satisfied with your divisions, select all your objects using the SELECTION TOOL or you can
simply use command CTRL + A.
Divide

Now, go to PATHFINDER window and select DIVIDE. If you can’t find your PATHFINDER window, go to
Window on your MENU BAR and locate Pathfinder.

After dividing the objects, right-click the objects and select UNGROUP to separate all the parts of the
divided circle.
The select the TYPE TOOL to create TEXTS.

Type 3 separate words on your canvas.

Character

Customize your texts by going to you PROPERTIES window. Locate the Character and on the drop-down
bar, select your preferred font syle. You can also edit the text size in the area. If you can’t find your
PROPERTIES window, go to Window on MENU BAR and select Properties.

After you are satisfied with your texts, select all the text objects using SELECTION TOOL.
Next, go to OBJECT on your MENU BAR and select EXPAND.

On the pop-up window for EXPAND, just click the OK button to proceed. Once the texts are converted
into object properties, your can’t edit your texts anymore.
Now, on your layer window, make sure that the shape layers where you will merge the texts are above
the specific shape. For example, the word DRINK in my logo will go to the upper part of the circle, the
word COFFEE will be on the middle part, and the EVERYDAY word will go on the lower part of the shape.

To move the layers, simple drag the layers up or down to where you want to relocate them. Wait for the
blue highlighted line to appear in between layers before dropping the layer.
After you re-arrange your layers, select the first word then the shape where it will be merged. To
multiple select, hold your SHIFT key then click all the objects included.
Now, go to OBJECT on your MENU BAR and select ENVELOPE DISTORT, then MAKE WITH TOP OBJECT. Or
you can simply use the command CTRL + ALT + C.

Your shape should look like this. Do the same procedure to all the other texts.
The final logo should look like this. To edit the colors of your shape, select all objects and go to OBEJCT
on your MENU BAR and click on EXPAND.

Click OK on the EXPAND property pop-up window.

Select the specific object you want to re-color, then double click on the fill color and select your
preferred color.
