PART-I EXPERIMENTS

PRACTICAL BASED ASSESSMENT

Practical No.01

To study the effect of length of simple pendulum and value of g on time period

Student measured the time of 10 vibrations of different lengths of thread and recorded the observations
in the following table. Complete the table.

Radius of metallic bob = r = 2.26 cm

1.Calculate mean value of g?

2.calculate the percentage error in calculated value of g?

4.what role, if any, does air resistance have on your results? Explain your reasoning.

Practical No.02

To study resistors in series circuit

1.calculate equivalent resistance for above diagram?

2. What will be the total resistance of two resistors connected in series with values 2 Ω and 3 Ω?

3. Determine the voltmeter reading for a series circuit if a current of 5A is flowing through 2 Ω and 3 Ω
resistors.

4. How should the resistor be connected so that the resultant resistance is increased?

5. What will total resistance be if two equal resistors are connected in series?

6. Where should the voltmeter be connected when the resistors are in series?

Practical No.03

To study resistance in parallel

1.Calculate equivalent resistance.

2.why current varies across resistors in parallel combination.

3.what should be total resistance if two equal resistors are connected in parallel?

4. Determine the Ammeter reading for a Parallel circuit if voltage of 5V is flowing through 2 Ω and 3 Ω
resistors.

Verify Ohm’s law (using wire as conductor).

1.Draw V-I graph and calculate resistance for above graph.

2.State ohm’s law.

3.Diffrentiate ohmic and non-ohmic devices.

4.

Calculate resistance for above mentioned graph?

5.Define resistance. upon which factors it depends.

6. If the resistance of an electric iron is 50 Ω and a current of 3.2 A flows through the resistance. Find the
voltage between two points.

7. An EMF source of 8.0 V is connected to a purely resistive electrical appliance (a light bulb). An electric
current of 2.0 A flows through it. Consider the conducting wires to be resistance-free. Calculate the
resistance offered by the electrical appliance.

To Determine the Resistance Of A Galvanometer By A Half-deflection Method

1.What is a Galvanometer?

2. Define the figure of merit of a galvanometer?

3. Why is the method called the half deflection method?

4. Under what condition is the resistance of a galvanometer (E1) equal to the shunt resistance S?
