condition
Error occurs if, •Engine Shutdown • Coolant level below • Inspect pins and
coolant level •Cluster lamp On if range. terminals for oxidations or
switch is closed the level is critically •Fault or damaged corrosion.
or harness below range coolant level • Ensure that the pins and
circuit open. sensor/connector/wiring. terminals are locked into
•Coolant contaminated the connectors and that
• Cooling system leak. they are not pushed back
•EMS faulty out of the sockets.
•Check coolant level &
quality as per service
manual standard.
•Connect breakout box &
harness as per below
connection table.
•0Ω when the float is at
the lower end position and
infinite when the float is at
the upper end
• Check the pins and
terminal are not damaged
(which can cause poor
connection).
• Change the sensor if the
problem remains same.

Breakout Connection:-
General Inspection:
• Check that the connectors are properly connected and locked into position
• Disconnect and check the component connector
• Inspect pins and terminals for oxidations or corrosion
• Ensure that the pins and terminals are locked into the connectors and that they are not
pushed back out of the sockets
• Check the pins and terminal are not damaged (which can cause poor connection)
Coolant temperature value at idle rpm after 1 hour of engine running should be 95-102°C.
Check whether coolant is mixed with oil. Check the radiator for damaged.
Check engine coolant level.
Check if the expansion coolant tank is contaminated.
Check that the radiator and charge air cooler are not clogged with prevents air flow.
• If there is a short circuit DTC in the ECU, to identify whether the fault is in wiring harness or
the sensor, disconnect the component connector, (creating open circuit) and re-read fault
code status to see if status changes (where applicable).
If the fault code changes i.e. open circuit DTC occurs, issue is with the internal circuit of the
component
If the fault code does not change, issue is with the wiring harness
Connect a new sensor with the ECU and check whether the fault gets erased
If the fault code gets erased, issue is with the internal circuit of the component
If the fault code does not change, issue is with the wiring harness.
