Nowadays, [smartphones] have become a necessary part in our lives, especially for a
growing number of [children]. [Smartphones] have both advantages and disadvantages
for children. Both sides have their own merits, and I will discuss the ideas in this essay.
On the one hand, there are many advantages of smartphones to children. Firstly,
children can study better with smartphones. For example, children can search for
information and learning materials on the Internet. Besides, children can take part in
online courses, especially in the pandemic of Covid 19. Secondly, smartphones help
children contact with others easily. Parents can call or send messages to their children at
anytime and anywhere. Finally, smartphones offer children many forms of entertainment.
After hardworking days, children can watch movies/ play games/ listen to music to relax
and reduce stress. Moreover, they can make new friends through social networks such as
Facebook, Instagram,…
On the other hand, smartphones also bring children many disadvantages. First, children
encounter many health problems. They can get common diseases such as: backache,
headache, obesity, or heart attack,…Spending too much time on smartphones make
children become lazy/ passive. Second, smartphones can affect children’s study results.
Children can waste a lot of time on their phones and be addicted to violent games/ social
networks. This will make children depressed and affect study results.
In conclusion, [smartphones] are widely used tools, especially for a growing number of
[children]/ Smartphones are becoming more and more popular in our modern society.
Personally I think everything has both benefits and drawbacks. Therefore, people should
consider things carefully to enhance the good sides and limit the bad sides.
studying
Many people believe that studying abroad would be really beneficial for student’s
learning process and better job opportunities in the future. However, others argue that it
also has some drawbacks. Discussed below will shed light the advantage as well as the
disadvantage of this tendency.
On the one hand, studying in foreign country is beneficial to students in several ways.
First and foremost, it could help scholars boost their soft skill. The reason is that students
who live far from their home country need to be independent. That means they have to
wake up by themselves without the help of their parents. Besides, they must get along
with their roommate, then have a better communication, and solving problems skills.
Secondly, students could have better understanding about the culture of other countries. It
is because every nation has their own traditions so students can take part in the holiday
that has in this country, try the local cuisine, and even learning the history of that nation.
For example, when foreigners come to Vietnam, they often join Tet holiday and eat
Trung cake, and from that they acknowledge about Vietnamese traditions.
On the other hand, taking oversea courses has some challenges. To commences with, it
can make students feel homesick. It can easily be seen that scholars when live their
hometown must be missing their homeland, parents, and even the dog that they’ve raised
from the child, which affects their heath badly and make them not focus on study. The
final demerit is that brain drain is the matter when we deal with this trend. To illustrate
the point I would like to mention that the winner of the gameshow “The way to Olympia
mountain” would be given a full scholarship to Australia to study universities. But
according to the statistics of Vietnamnet, there is only one person come back to her
homeland country Vietnam to pursue her passion as an entrepreneur.
All In all, the above mentioned facts have outlined the pros and cons of this issue. Its
drawbacks should be taken into account. People should optimize the benefit of the issue
and find the way to minimize the disadvantage
Playing game
In modern life, video games have attracted the interest of many people, especially
children. Many people think that gaming has many disadvantages. However, others
believe that playing video games has many benefits. My essay will discuss both views
and give my personal opinion.
On the one hand, there are several advantages of playing video games. First of all,
it helps children reduce stress after hard study at school. When players play some
interesting games and enter the online world, they can feel relaxed and excited. Secondly,
it improves children's imagination and creativity. While playing games, they have to try
to solve problems, think logically and become creative to get the highest point or win the
games. Learning these skills is also useful for their study and real life. Finally, children
can develop social skills. For example, thousands of people in the world join the virtual
world of a game, so children have chances to make new friends with other gamers and
improve social relationships.
On the other hand, playing games has many disadvantages. The first drawback is
that it is bad for children's health. Because children easily get game addiction, they may
spend most time playing games instead of going out and doing exercise. Therefore, they
may get a lot of diseases such as overweight or back pain and feel tired. Moreover,
playing games distracts children from their study. Kids tend to waste a lot of time playing
games, so they do not focus on study and may get bad marks. Lastly, it affects their
behaviors badly. There are violent actions in most games; therefore, children might copy
these bad things and behaviors in their real life.
In conclusion, playing computer games is both positive and negative. It seems to
me that the dangers of video games are more than their benefits. Parents should limit
children's time of playing games to make them focus on their study and real life.
tourism
As air transport facilitates vital connectivity around the world, international tourism has
become the most lucrative market. However, there are many debates that the industry
polarizes people of different cultures. I disagree with this notion because international
tourism, in my opinion, substantially promotes cultural exchange.
To begin with, some people argue that tourism is one of the main reasons causing friction
between locals and visitors. The burgeoning industry develops radically, from which a
period of chaos and infringements ensue. Rome, for example, is renowned for its scenic
wonders but its infamous petty crimes such as pickpocketing or robbery have become an
emerging concern among travelers. Not only Venice but most tourist attractions also are
forced into a similar impasse since the police personnel is not enough to control crime
rates due to the enormous number of tourists. In the long run, it may leave a bad
impression on the natives to the visitors.
On the other hand, I believe that international tourism is a remarkable way to develop
understanding between cultures. The fundamentals of culture are usually expressed
through traditional food and music that have to be experienced first-hand in the original
country or region. To give an example, the foreign traveler can perceive a special charm
in Vietnamese culture by listening to the imperial music in Hue, a masterpiece of
intangible heritage by UNESCO, which beautifully recreate the feudal era of Vietnam.
Furthermore, many overseas visitors want to visit the city for the extraordinary, balanced
taste of spicy, salty, and umami in “Bun bo Hue” which comes from the authentic Hue’s
fermented shrimp paste. In other words, the flavorful taste of Bun bo Hue with delightful
live imperial court music is an unrivaled experience of culture that people cannot live
vicariously by reading books or watching Youtube.
In conclusion, international tourism has a major contribution to fostering meaningful
cultural exchange despite several security drawbacks. In my opinion, the authorities of
tourist attractions can develop their security by engaging artificial intelligence in public
cameras in which they can detect and prevent crimes.
