Section 2 of this quick guide introduces some of the key features of RokDoc. If you
prefer to use RokDoc without going through the documentation, it is advised that you
at least read section 2.
So, to get the most out of RokDoc simply read through section 2, then each Quick Guide and
before long you will become an expert within the RokDoc environment!
Workflow Tutorials
There are five ‘Workflow Tutorials’ which are presented sequentially as Quick Guides
introducing the user to typical RokDoc workflows. The first introduces RokDoc projects and
how to create and manipulate logs; the second tutorial set follows a typical workflow using
blocking modelling data (average values); the third follows a typical workflow using log-based
data; the fourth introduces transforms and synthetics; whilst the fifth follows a typical workflow
using multi-well data.
Working through the tutorial sets lets the user build on the original database with data created
during each function. In the example workflows this data is generally used as an input for the
next step in the tutorial, therefore when working through these tutorial sets it is advisable to
work through them in the correct order.
Sample Data
The Quick Guides is based around a simple data set. This will come in the form of text based
input, Users ASCII files and ‘.las’ well log files. In addition to these we have supplemented the
Quick Guides by providing a sample database containing input data. As long as the user has
worked through the first Quick Guide, ‘Getting started with RokDoc’ the user will be able to
jump between different Quick Guides in any order. A completed well has been constructed
(‘Original’) which allows the user to jump in at any stage of the ‘Quick Guides’ to save starting
from the beginning.
Users who do not wish to run through the entire demo tutorial, preferring to work with
individual Functions, should use the sample data within the demo project ‘Demo_Data.rok’,
found in the demodata directory of the installation. This project contains some demo data to
allow you to explore each function at your leisure.
