Release Notes

Makito X4 Decoder 1.4

New Features and Improvements:

• Added support for Dual NIC configurations to partition streaming and management
services over two distinct network subnets. SFP required.
• Added support for Custom Still Images, allowing users to upload image files to be
displayed by the decoder when no valid input stream is present
• Added support for Preset Auto-Save where, when enabled, the decoder
configuration is automatically saved to a startup preset every time changes are
applied
• Added support for SRT Access Control (Stream ID), allowing multiple streams to use
the same UDP port number.
• Added support for H.264 Intra Refresh streams. Previously, only HEVC Intra Refresh
streams were supported.
• Added support for preview thumbnails in EMS agent
• Added support for VPID signaling as per SMPTE ST 352 for all supported output
resolutions

Fixed Issues:

R4KD-1390: Crash can occur when decoding 4x SRT HEVC 1080p59, 35 Mbps, 4:2:2 8-bit,
8 Audio pairs
R4KD-1294: Unable to detect frame rate embedded in customer stream
R4KD-1179: Possibility of a Latency creep up when using Fixed buffering.
R4KD-1171: Poor playback quality when decoding customer stream created by Delta
digital encoder
R4KD-1170: Intermittent crashing when decoding customer stream created by Delta
digital encoder
R4KD-1154: Streams from Play Pro can fail to decode when encoded frame rate is
changed
R4KD-1103: Out of memory crash when decoding streams with high bitrate and multiple
slices
R4KD-1098: Out of memory crash with AWS Media Live stream
R4KD-1084: Decoding a stream from a third-party encoder through a frame rate change
from 108025p to 108050p may cause MX4D to crash
R4KD-1075: For streams with closed captioning, the cc_count in CDP is not conforming to
SMPTE 334-2
R4KD-1052: Streams with unsupported resolutions were being reported as Unlicensed
R4KD-1027: Minimum multisync delay calculation does not adapt down in response to
improved streaming conditions
R4KD-1009: Sliced Content with stream corruption can cause decoder to crash
R4KD-1004: Decoder does not display video when decoding remuxed Delta digital
streams that do not contain the SEI_PTYPE_ACTIVE_PARAMETER_SETS SEI message
R4KD-995: Still image can intermittently get activated when using a 1 second interval
setting.
R4KD-807: AV sync delay can increase over time
R4KD-410: Video artifacts observed when decoding 4 x Full-HD streams @ 30mbps.
R4KD-1360: Decoder that is not licensed for KLV does not properly report the decoder
state when KLV is in the stream
R4KD-1309: Invalid stream address error message when using underscore symbols in SRT
destination address
R4KD-1340: SRT Skipped packets should not be called Dropped Packets in CLI stats
R4KD-1091: AAC Audio not compatible with Grass Valley AMPP encoder
R4KD-953: Decoder outputs can be out of sync when encoders are configured to use
SMPTE12M-1 system timecode in multi-sync buffering workflows.
R4KD-404: Audio pops and glitches occur when decoding streams with CBR Traffic
Shaping.
R4KD-651: Decoder does not display video from a Delta digital encoder
R4KD-693: Improved the number of skipped and replayed frames potentially experienced
during the initial stream startup.

Known Issues:

R4KD-461: Opening the local help may take up to 30 seconds.

R4KD-524: Captioning may not be present on the output when decoding a 1080i29.97
stream.
Workaround: Reboot the decoder.
R4KD-519: When using fixed mode, a low delay value may result in audio or video
artifacts.
Workaround: Increase the fixed mode delay.
R4KD-517: When attempting to decode two 4k/UHDp60 streams using two decoding
engines consecutively with Freeze frame selected as a Still Image, unexpected colours can
be seen at the output when the second decoder is started after the first decoder is
stopped.
Workaround: Use another mode other than Freeze for the output Still Image mode.
R4KD-507: High number of replayed frames when decoding 4k/UHDp50/59.94/60 H.264
streams with 4:2:2 10-bit profile.
Workaround: Lower the H.264 stream profile.
R4KD-492: Considerable amounts of skipped and replayed frames observed when
decoding quad 1080p60 H.264/AVC streams using 4:2:2 10-bit chroma subsampling / bit-
depth combinations.
Workaround: Use a lower profile.
R4KD-487: Captioning is not supported when frame down-rating is being used.
R4KD-428: By default, CBC is enabled for SSH. This will raise issues with security scanners.
Workaround: Change the security policy to anything other than None.
R4KD-423: TLS 1.0 is enabled by default and raises issues with security scanners.
Workaround: Enable TLS 1.1 or 1.2 and disable TLS 1.0
R4KD-422: X.509 certificate is self-signed and will raise a security warning when scanned.
Workaround: Install a CA-authorized X.509 certificate.
R4KD-421: The unit ships from the factory with a self-signed certificate.
Workaround: Install a certificate from a recognized CA.
R4KD-416: Intermittent instances of high Skipped / Replayed frame values occur when
decoding stream configurations are close to resource saturation levels.
Workaround: Lower the total bitrate streaming into the decoder.
R4KD-385: Intermittent increase of Skipped / Replayed frame values when decoding
channel configurations using 1 x 2160p29.97 and 2 x 1080p59.94.
R4KD-372: 1080p60 H.264 High10 or High422 video with B-frames can only support up to
3 decodes.
Workaround: Use a lower profile.
R4KD-362: Decoder may output pink and green artifacts for the first few seconds when
the incoming stream resolution changes from interlaced to progressive.
R4KD-204: Only one H.264/AVC stream with High 10 or High 4:2:2 profile at 4k/UHD
resolution can be supported (any frame rate).
R4KD-123: Certificates using the PFX format cannot be imported.
Workaround: Import certificates of alternate file formats.
R4KD-69: The Web UI does not work well with Internet Explorer 11 (or earlier) web
browser.
Workaround: Use a more modern browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
