TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT OF GRAMMAR

Objectives :
1. To offer additional programs that are globally competitive.
2. To develop students and produce graduates with global competitiveness in their field of expertise.
3. To integrate in the curriculum programs that are important to cultural awareness.
4. To equip the students with knowledge, skills right attitude, and values formation relevant to the requirements of the local, regional and national
economy.
5. To upgrade the facilities and services for the satisfaction of the stakeholders.
6. To upgrade the teachers’ professional and emotional growth.
7. To establish linkages with the Alumni, PTCA, LGU and other stakeholders in order to gain support on its various programs and projects.
8. To intensify the research program of the undergraduate and graduate studies.

Goals and Objectives:

1. Develop global communication skills to effectively teach and interact with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
1.1 Design and implement lesson plans that include cross-cultural perspectives and practices to enhance students' global communication skills.
1.2 Participate in professional development workshops focused on intercultural communication and global education strategies.
2. Apply ethical teaching practices to foster a learning environment that upholds integrity, respect, and moral values.
2.1 Create and enforce a classroom code of conduct that promotes respect, fairness, and academic honesty among students.
2.2 Integrate ethical dilemmas and discussions into the curriculum to encourage critical thinking and moral reasoning.
3. Integrate advanced technology into the English curriculum to enhance teaching methods and student engagement.
3.1 Utilize educational software and online resources to create interactive and engaging English lessons.
3.2 Develop and implement a digital literacy program to teach students effective and responsible use of technology in their studies.
4. Promote social responsibility by incorporating themes of global and local relevance into English lessons to address current societal issues.
4.1 Include topics such as environmental sustainability, social justice, and cultural diversity in English reading and writing assignments.

Course Title : TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT OF GRAMMAR
Course Description : This is a three-unit major course for BSED English major students which engages learners in understanding the distinctions between and
among four types of grammar – functional, descriptive, prescriptive and pedagogic. Aside from the emphasis on how teaching and assessment vary considering the
four types, the course also provides opportunities to discover the role of grammar in achieving communicative competence.
