Bank of Zambi OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR For Immediate Release PUBLIC NOTICE INTRODUCTION OF A NEW FAMILY OF THE ZAMBIAN CURRENCY Pursuant to Section 17(1) of the BoZ Act, 2022, the Bank of Zambia is pleased to announce the introduction of anew family ofthe Zambian curreney. The new family ofbankrozs and coins will consist of six banknotes (KS00, K200, K100, KS0, K20, and KIO) and six eons (KS, K2, KI, 50N, 10N, and SN). These will be launched on March 31, 2028. The alpha exle (ZMIW), the ‘numeric code (967), and the cureney symbol (K) will emasin unchanged as wil be the valu. The design of the new curency draws inspiration from the countrys rch heritage, featuring clements that celebrate our unigue flora and fauna and breathtaking waterfalls. By incorporating these elements, the new curency not only honours eu cultural heritage, but alto strengthens i roleasasymbel of pride and unity forall Zambian citizens, as exemplified by our national moti, One Zambia, One Nation. This intative, which was kck-started by the Botrdspproval in July 2021, woes the Bank's ‘commitment to providing currency that is secure, efficient, user-friendly, and well-suited for ‘everyday transactions.
