Cubes and Cube Roots

EXAMPLES
1.Verify whether (i) 864 and (ii) 5832 are perfect cubes.
2. Express the number as a product of its prime factors.
3. Make triplets of equal prime factors. Cubes and Cube Roots
4. Take one factor from each triplet and multiply them.
You can also express the number as a product of powers of the prime
factors. Then, dividing each index of those powers by 3 and multiplying
the factors will give you the cube root.
5.Find the cube root of 3375.

1. Cube root of a negative perfect cube


Let x be a positive integer. So, -x is a negative integer.
Now, (- x ) x (- x ) x (- x ) =- x ³- x =(- x ) ∛- x ³ =- x .
Also, x =∛- x ³.

So, ∛- x 3= ‐∛- x ³ = - x .
2.Find the cube root of-216.
3. Cube root of the product of numbers
To find the cube root of the product of two or more numbers, first find the
cube root of each number and then find their product.
4.Find the cube roots of (i) 27 x 125 and (ii) 64 × 343 x 729.
