Social well-being), Mental health Promotion.

Unit – II: Social Psychology


• Social Psychology: Nature, Approaches and Methods.
• Social Cognition: Person Perception, Self-Perception, Social Perception.
• Attitude: Nature, Formation, Measurement and Theories of Attitude Change.
• Group Processes: Group Formation, Group Effectiveness and Group
Cohesiveness, Group Dynamics, Cooperation/Competition.
• Leadership: Nature, Types, Functions and Theories of Leadership.
• Altruism and Aggression.
• Environmental Psychology: Human environment relationship, Environmental
effects on human behavior, Crowding Personal Space and Density, Pollution
(Noise, Air, Water, etc.), Natural disasters, promoting pro-environmental
behavior.
Unit – III: Educational and Counselling Psychology
• Educational Psychology: Nature, Scope, Models and Measures of Effective
Teaching.
• Exceptional Children: Gifted, Physically and Mentally challenged, Problem
Children.
• Culture, Teaching and Learning: Role of Socio-economic status and ethnicity
Language differences and bilingualism and Multicultural education.
• Counseling: Nature, Goals and Principles, Roles and Functions of Counselors
and their Professional Training.

Engineering, Equipment Design, Environment Design, Industrial Accidents and

Linguistic Hierarchy, Psycholinguistics.
• Positive Psychology, Human Character- Strengths and virtues, happiness and
well-being. Positive cognitive states; self-efficacy, Hope, Mindfulness, wisdom
and courage. Resilience.
• Indian Psychology and Indigenous approaches: Mind and Personality; Ego and
Ahankara, Advait Vedantic Model, Buddhist Model, Sri Aurobindo's
perspective.
• Health psychology; Bio-psychosocial Model, Work, Stress and Health, Health
Promotion.
