- **LightinSure, I can help you with some research on lighting.

Here are some basic

terms and definitions related to lighting:
g**: The use of artificial light sources to illuminate a space or an object, or the
effect of such illumination.
- **Luminous intensity**: The amount of light emitted by a source in a given
direction, measured in candelas (cd).
- **Luminous flux**: The total amount of light emitted by a source in all
directions, measured in lumens (lm).
- **Illuminance**: The amount of light falling on a surface, measured in lux (lx)
or foot-candles (fc).
- **Luminance**: The amount of light reflected or emitted by a surface in a given
direction, measured in candelas per square meter (cd/m^2^) or nits.
- **Color temperature**: The hue of a light source, measured in kelvins (K). Lower
color temperatures are warmer (reddish) and higher color temperatures are cooler
(bluish).
- **Color rendering index (CRI)**: A measure of how well a light source reveals the
true colors of objects, compared to a reference source. CRI ranges from 0 to 100,
with 100 being the best.
- **Glare**: The sensation of discomfort or reduced visibility caused by excessive
or poorly distributed light.
- **Diffuse lighting**: Lighting that is scattered or reflected by a surface,
creating soft shadows and even illumination.
- **Direct lighting**: Lighting that is aimed directly at a target, creating sharp
shadows and contrast.
- **Indirect lighting**: Lighting that is bounced off a surface, such as a ceiling
or a wall, creating a soft and uniform illumination.

There are also different types of lighting for different purposes and rooms, such
as:

- **Ambient lighting**: The general lighting present in an area, providing overall

illumination and a comfortable level of brightness. Ambient lighting can be
achieved by using ceiling lights, recessed lights, wall sconces, or architectural
lighting.
- **Task lighting**: Lighting that is focused on a specific area or activity, such
as reading, writing, cooking, or working. Task lighting can be achieved by using
pendant lights, under-cabinet lights, track lights, desk lamps, or floor lamps.
- **Accent lighting**: Lighting that is used to highlight a particular feature or
object, such as a painting, a sculpture, a plant, or a fireplace. Accent lighting
can be achieved by using spotlights, recessed lights, wall sconces, or laser
lighting.
- **Decorative lighting**: Lighting that is used to create a visual interest or a
mood, such as a chandelier, a candle, a string light, or a LED light. Decorative
lighting can be used to complement or contrast with other types of lighting.
